ALL-TIMESLAND J VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR Cave Spring J Outside hitter J Senior MORGAN SHANNON Shannon led Cave Spring to the VHSL Group AA championship including a semifinal victory over four- time defending champion Loudoun County. She finished the season with 434 kills including 19 in a 3-0 win over Jamestown in the state final. Shannon had a 41.4 hitting percentage, 406 digs, 48 aces and 42 blocks. She set Cave Spring’s career record for kills with 1,434 and was named River Ridge District and Region IV player of the year for the second straight season. Shannon has signed with Davidson. What stands out about the 2011 season: “I will never forget the teamwork and camaraderie that resulted in a state championship. We all put in so much hard work this year and in years past working towards the goal of winning states.
