Resumen Bitextor is an automatic bitext generator which obtains his base corpora fromthe Internet. It works downloading an entire website (applying a filter todownload only those files written in HTML) and comparing every pair of files.It detects the language and, through a group of heuristics (file size, HTMLskeleton edit distance, format, etc.), it tries to guess witch files have the samecontent in different languages. Once it has identified the pairs of files, itgenerates a bitext file in TMX format.

Resumen The LOGOS Machine translation system is one of the largest and mostpowerful among the commercial machine translation systems. Various textdocuments in different formats can be submitted to the system and within ashort amount of time are translated into different target languages. The result, araw translation, is already of high language quality. But if required, the resultcan be post-edited by a human translator. The user saves a significant amountof time and costs especially since the use of different document filters maintainthe format of the original document to a high degree. Currently German andEnglish are the source languages available. The target languages for Englishinclude the major European languages (such as French, Italian, Spanish andPortuguese). The system "can learn" in the sense that a trained user quickly isable to maintain terminology and dictionaries and can also establish his ownuser dictionary. This is important if the text to be translated belongs to asubject area with specific terminology. The system already has a complexhierarchical system of specialized dictionaries easily accessible for the user.Therefore, from its approach, the LOGOS engine is a "universal problemsolving machine" which can process any text in any subject area. "Fine-tuning"or "specialization" is accomplished with the appropriate terminology work.
