Just in case you were wondering

I began here. A quiet Chinese boy whom was

blessed to have many teachers. I inherited

their curiosity for the world, their work ethic

and justice, their wonder and serenity.

I journeyed away from home out to London

Ontario for University. Beyond completing

both a business and a science degree,

Western was a place that gave me a world of

opportunities to outside class.

I began volunteering with the campus safe-

walk program in first year. A strong shared

sense of purpose and supportive

had me coming back for four more years!

In Science, I chose to study . I

remain inspired by the words of former Merck

CEO Dr. Vaglos

“Medicine is for the people”

Being from a business family meant I

had to get my hands dirty. I found

enjoyment in dealing with the diverse people

When my family opened our first retail, I undertook new

responsibilities.

February 2010, I participated as a student

ambassador on a twenty member business

mission to Israel.

Israel surprised me. A nation of only

7.5 million people have grown one of the

most innovative economies in the world.

sand-dunes would have dominated this picture.

There is more to this complex place than just

the news rhetoric.

Imperial Oil’s Nanticoke Refinery supplies 20%

of Ontario’s gasoline. On the business controls

team supporting a major plant upgrade, this was

my first experience working in a global

company interfacing with colleagues across

four provinces and three countries

The Anne Johnston Health Station: Gravity does not

seem to apply; a model of health care delivery where

clients are not patients but partners in their own health

and where one is never denied access to care because

of disability or status

I began as a volunteer, three months later I

was accepted as the new coordinator for the

ministry funded Diabetes Program;

contributing on the frontline of chronic health

care

In the summer of 2012, I became an MD student at the Duke Graduate
