Executive Message / Contacts

Next to family and good health, the connections you make with others is the most rewarding aspect of life. This fall the AIM Companies partnered with Snake River CrossFit for our inaugural Backyard Brawl. Over 200 people lined the yard of AIM HQ, 106 of which were CrossFit athletes, including four of our AIM staff. They represented 12 local gyms, with participants ages 13 to 67, who came together to perform their personal best and to support others in the CrossFit

community. The event was a huge success!

Life is about connectionsThis group had a strong common bond for the workouts, health, fitness, and each other. New friendships were formed and memories were made that will last a lifetime.

As families come together for Thanksgiving on November 27th here in the US (or October 13th for Canadian Members), memories will be made and the importance of family will be renewed as we celebrate the holiday together. We here at The AIM Companies are thankful for all of our AIM Members around the world and for the AIM products that enhance and help us live life to the fullest.

Main Feature Diabetes Awareness Month

If your metabolism operates on the path of prediabetes or beyond, forces are at work to physically destroy you from the inside out. Internal damage can occur for years without you even being aware of it. The devastating results include blindness, kidney disease, and nerve damage that can lead to the surgical removal of toes, feet, or legs. The leading cause of death for those with diabetes is cardiovascular disease. The diabolical nature of diabetes reduces your quality of life and can ultimately shorten your lifespan.

The frightening fact is that type 2 diabetes is on the rise among people of all ages around the world. In Canada, over 9 million are living with diabetes or prediabetes. Statistics show that 29 million people in the United States have diabetes and 86 million have prediabetes. An analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that one out of every three U.S. adults may have diabetes by 2050.

Sugary BloodWhen the cells of your body do not optimally

respond to the action of insulin, which literally opens the cellular door for blood sugar to enter and convert to energy, the glucose (sugar) levels in your blood remain high. Continuously circulating sugar throughout your blood vessels can cause untold harm and inflammation and cause untold harm to your body. The continual exposure to sugary blood near the feet and brain can contribute to nerve damage, causing amputations or loss of vision.

The Risk FactorsA major risk factor of cellular resistance

to insulin is being overweight. A lack of physical activity can contribute to carrying too much weight. And if your mother, father, or siblings have diabetes, genetics can make you prone to the disease. Getting older also increases your chances of developing this metabolic disorder.

A 2001 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that “Type 2 diabetes can be prevented by changes in the lifestyles of high-risk subjects.” Effectively, the subjects succeeded by “reducing weight, total intake of fat, and intake of saturated fat and increasing intake of fiber and physical activity.” 

If you are overweight, you can lose extra pounds so that your cells become more receptive to insulin and your blood sugar levels decrease. Exercising does the same thing while helping you to achieve a healthy weight.

I’ve lost 55 pounds

I am twenty-two years old and currently a child/youth worker student. This is my last year and so I am looking forward to graduation! I am living with one roommate and have an amazing boyfriend who will hopefully in the next year be my husband 😉.

I heard about the AIM products through Barbara Bird. She was posting updates on Facebook about health food and products and what they can do. I was frustrated and was about to block her updates when I saw her update about the enzymes and benefits to digestion.

The doctors here in Canada had just told me that unless some miracle happened I was going to die by Christmas. Through stress I had worn out all my organs. I had fluid and infections everywhere and surrounding all my organs as well. The damage was quite substantial. For now they could only help me become more comfortable. I was twenty-one and quite honestly I didn’t want to die. There are tons of things I still want to do.

AFTER

So, I messaged AIM Director Barbara Bird, thinking what did I really have to lose. I was desperate to try anything and why worry about the cost when I was supposed to die anyway. I might as well try to help myself and since digestion was one of my issues and stomach pain was so constant, I figured at least get the enzymes.

I bought everything I needed for weight loss plus a bit extra. My first order was humongous and it was quite overwhelming, trying to figure out when and how to take all these products. I figured things out and quite frankly, I have never felt so good!

In 1982 with the birth of The AIM Companies™, I made one of the best decisions of my life by trying a green barley powder and joining Dennis Itami in sharing this incredible product with the world. My health was failing at that time, and I truly feel that green barley has extended my life for more than thirty years. I am so grateful for the improvement of my health along with the fellowship I have had with so many of our precious AIM Members.

Dennis and I have both held the positions of president and vice president of AIM over the years, and once again, we will trade executive positions. So today I announce that Dennis Itami will assume the presidential role as of November 26th, 2014, which happens to be my 80th birthday. Be assured that as vice president of AIM, I will remain steadfastly involved in the improvements and continuation of The AIM Companies.

Being an independent business owner for most of my life, I want to emphasize that being in control of your own destiny is rewarding, exciting and at times frustrating, but the rewards far outweigh the negatives. I congratulate all of our AIM Members for taking the steps to be independent business owners as well. So follow your dreams, work hard, help others, and all that you desire will be yours.

AIM Director Tiki McIntyre of New Orleans has been drinking AIM’s green barley powder since she was a little kid. “I started taking it regularly about twenty-two years ago, but my father, Patrick Ryan, originally introduced me to it as a small child. He was always into fitness and health. He was an AIM Director who made a couple of thousand dollars a month in checks and went to a bunch of conferences like the one in Alaska. We had a hardware store and bike shop. He worked his AIM business from there. If anyone bought AIM’s green barley powder out of the Alexandria area in those days, they bought it from him. All different kinds of people came to the hardware store to talk to him about it. He had a massive downline. One of the things he told me was that ‘you have to have meetings.’ Dad had meetings all the time.

“Father would say ‘no white sugar, no white rice’ and he posted a sign up with that on it at the store. That’s what he’s taught me and that’s what I’ve taught my children. He baked his own bread and ate whole grains. He finally had to quit selling AIM products because it conflicted with

his insurance job. He still takes AIM BarleyLife® and AIM Herbal Fiberblend®. He is meticulous about it. He had to give his business to his wife. I didn’t inherit the business from dad, I took over my grandfather’s business and made Director on my own. “

There’s also promotional material that the Member literally has to cut out pictures of the AIM Garden Trio® with scissors. Her sister and her aunt are also AIM Members.

with what you put in your mouth and how active you are. If a machine sits out in the field and doesn’t do anything, it gets all rusty. That’s just what happens to your body.

“I like to live like a New Orleanian. I like to eat the local foods and have a glass of wine with friends. That’s why the AIM products are so great. The AIM Companies™ announces a one-dollar price increase for most of the products in our lineup and a fifty-cent increase in combo and starter packs per pack component. The Red Rush/Snake River CrossFit Backyard Brawl was the first organized sporting event that I’ve competed in since 9th grade. That was twenty years ago. I trained at a CrossFit gym for a few weeks prior to the Brawl, and the Mag-nificence spray really helped relieve my plentiful muscle soreness.

Martin Benning Climbs IdahoEverybody’s favorite AIM-sponsored mountaineer, Martin Benning, was in Idaho this August with his climbing partner Travis VanOverbeke, giving

a demonstration on health and nutrition at the Boise climbing gym Urban Ascent. After the presentation, Travis and Martin conquered the manmade indoor rock wall. The next day, the crew traveled down to the City of Rocks where, powered by Red Rush, they spent the day scaling those stony, desert crags.

Red Rush Backyard BrawlOn September 27, Red Rush and The AIM Companies in conjunction with Snake River CrossFit hosted the first annual Backyard Brawl on the lawn of AIM International Headquarters in Nampa, Idaho. Over one hundred local athletes and Members of the AIM Staff, including Ryan Davis, Phillip Jermann, Josh Peterson and Nic Wright competed in the WOD (workout of the day). All participants received a T-shirt, meals and, of course, Red Rush. Over 100 spectators joined the day-long event, bringing more awareness to Red Rush nitric oxide performance shots and The AIM Companies.

Back in August 2004, several Canadian newspapers published articles about the life-threatening tale of three friends out for a leisurely sail on Quebec’s Gatineau River. The mast of their boat touched a sagging hydro wire, sending 120,000 volts of electricity surging down to the deck. People on the shore heard a loud blast and witnessed the boat bursting into flames.

One of the three sailors was the boat’s owner, Muriel How, who was knocked unconscious. She remembers talking to her friends one moment and then waking up in an ambulance. Describing the horrific event with details she was given much later after coming out a coma, Muriel explained, “The electricity entered my body through my elbow and came out of my bum.” Her right arm had been touching the sailboat’s lifelines, which create fencing around the deck to prevent people from falling overboard. “Had my arm been higher, the electricity would have gone through my heart, and I would not have survived."

Her friends Ann Brand and Cathy Melnychuck were electrocuted as well. With second-degree burns to over 65 percent of her body, Cathy died six weeks after the accident.

“I feel lucky to be alive,” Muriel said as she reflected on that fateful day. “It took me about two years to get back on my feet.” Being an AIM Group Builder with access to products such as AIM BarleyLife® and AIM GinkgoSense® helped her return to good health.

One of the disturbing side effects of her injury was memory loss. “I couldn’t think of simple words like refrigerator or microwave,” Muriel
