Detailed Analysis Attached - No Budget Officer- 6 BACKGROUND ( Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished ) The purpose of this bid is to secure the services of a licensed Landscape Contractor to provide landscape maintenance services in accordance with industry standards and Federal, State and Local rules, regulations and guidelines in accordance with the Technical Specifications at the unit prices submitted. The submitting firms were asked to provide a unit cost per cycle of basic landscape maintenance tasks at each of 36 locations, broken into 3 groups, plus hourly-labor unit costs for pest control and incidental non-pest-control grounds care. The area to be maintained includes over 14,600 small to medium-sized plants in landscaped areas, encompassing stand-alone ornamentals and 551 beds covering 225,000 s.f. Basic landscape maitenance tasks include pruning and fertilization of ornamental trees, shrubs, and ground cover; weed control in plant beds, tree rings and paved sidewalks and plazas; and mulching of plant beds and stand-alone ornamentals. Incidental tasks may also include landscape pest control and plant installation at the contract hourly labor rate plus materials. The estimated annual expenditure for Landscape Maintenance services for all the specified County Facilities is $333,762. After review and evaluation of the Landscape Maintenance bids submitted, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the County to award to the lowest responsive, responsible, bidder; Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance of Englewood, Florida at the unit price submitted.
