When Miss South Africa Ireland was held for the fi rst time in Dublin, it was the talk of the town. Although it was ReniAlice Production’s maiden outing in the beauty pageant for citizens of the ‘Rainbow Nation.’ However, since 2012 when it was started amidst pomp and pageantry, little have been heard. Africaworld talked to ReniAlice Sello, the Managing Director of ReniAlice Production and bared all.

For the purpose of clarity, where are you from?

I’m a proud African Woman born to a Nigerian Father and a South African Mother.

What happened to your production- miss South Africa Ireland?

Well, I left it as an abandoned project simply because it was not appreciated by the South African community…. What is the essence in investing on something that is not embraced by the community it was created solely for.?

AfricaWorld sources said you were opposed in the continuation of the project, explain.

I did not stop simply to satisfy some people’s bitterness… I withheld it just for the fact that the South African community have to miss to want it back… as I said earlier it is an abandoned project but, as we all know an abandoned project can always revisited.

How did you let the successful South Africa Beauty Pageant die down after much reviews?

There was a lot of controversies going on and a group of south Africans where bent on killing it and I wanted to let peace reign because it was obvious that their problem was that it was highly successful and they never in their wildest dream think it could hold let alone be a huge success. The event itself spoke volumes and its funny that in this case people don’t want to be associated with success!

Are you planning to resurrect it for fans this 2014?

That is something I will consider.

Was it true that the South Africa Embassy was against it?

At the initial stage, I requested their support through endorsing it but, they where stalling and in the long run it

faltered.

AfricaWorld learnt that the winner never got her prize, how true?

That is completely false.

Tell us more about ReniAlice Production

ReniAlice Productions is a sister company to ReniAlice fashions which has been in operation since Feb 2002. Our vision at ReniAlice Production is to be pace setters in the pageant industry.

Our source said your opponents partly accused you that you are not South African, can you enlighten us more?

Unfortunately the DNA in me cannot be altered … I have no reason to explain myself to anybody …. I’m not a naturalized South African …. I’m South African by blood.

What was the experience organizing the 2012 maiden edition?

It was such a beautiful experience…. The girls where amazing and it was such a delight to have gone through that experience with them all.

What have you been up to since your last public production?

I have since gone back to college to enhance myself academically.

What are we expecting from ReniAlice Production this 2014?

That for now is a secret ….

Why was there opposition from a section of the South African community after many attended the parked show?

Unwarranted hatred…. It’s the case of “If I don’t do it you can’t too”….

Is the new South African Ambassador backing the Pageant?

Sincerely, I don’t think he knows about it ….

Can you tell us more about the South African community in Ireland?

They are nice, friendly and outgoing people but, there is no unison and that is the biggest problem we have.

Thobeka Dlamini, charge d’affaires at the Embassy of South Africa in Dublin, who recently was accused of slave labour may have been recalled. Inside source at the rainbow country mission house in Dubl in 2 informed AfricaWorld that she is currently in South Africa to answer queries from her superior back home.

It will be recalled that the diplomat’s former employee lodged a complaint with the Labour Relations Commission, accusing Thobeka Dlamini of paying her just €1.66 per hour and forcing her to work 17-hour a day.

AfricaWorld learnt that the South African government frowned at the furrow generated in the international media by the diplomat’s

undiplomatic attitude. “How can Thobeka behave like that knowing that this is not good for the ANC in this election period”, our source quoted a top party chieftain who communicated on phone.

Due to political pressure at home, the ANC government frowned at such behavior and may have quietly recalled her to avoid unnecessary publicity and embarrassment.

Another reason that may have warranted Ms Thobeka Dlamini’s recall, AfricaWorld gathered, is her refusal to employ South Africans at the Embassy. South Africans in Ireland have made complaints about the staffi ng of their Embassy in Ireland, often joking that it look Swedish or more European than the ‘Rainbow Nation.’ More so,

they may have wanted the new Ambassador to start on a clean slate without the controversy generated by Thobeka Dlamini’s slave labour issue. Efforts to reach the embattled diplomat by AfricaWorld proved abortive.

SOUTH AFRICA CHARGE D’AFFAIRES IN IRELAND RECALLED

More virulent and antibiotic resistant forms of MRSA are circulating in Irish hospitals and look set to become the dominant strains in the future.

That is according to new research led by scientists from Trinity College Dublin and the National MRSA Reference Laboratory.

MRSA is a bacterial infection resistant to many common antibiotics, making it more diffi cult to treat.

As a result it is a major cause of hospital acquired infections.

One particular strain has been dominant in Irish hospitals for 12 years, and has caused four-fi fths of life threatening MRSA blood stream infections.

However, patterns suggest its dominance may be replaced at any time by another strain.

Microbiologists at Trinity’s Dental School and the National MRSA Reference Lab have being working to predict properties of that likely new dominant strain.

Studying a large sample of sporadically occurring MRSA in patients in hospitals over a decade, they found a myriad of strains and variants.

Many were more drug resistant and virulent than earlier strains, and may have come to Ireland from abroad.

According to the authors, anyone of these variants may become predominant and as a result ongoing surveillance is needed so control measures can be deployed early.

One of the authors of the new research said there have been over 50 different strains of the bug circulating in Irish hospitals in the last 12 years.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Professor David Coleman, Professor and Chair of Oral and Applied Microbiology at the School of Dental Science in Trinity, said many MRSA strains are drug-resistant

and virulent.

He said there had been huge advances in genetic technology in recent years that allowed rapid analysis of emerging strains of the bacteria.

Professor Coleman said it was very possible that we will get new strains emerging of MRSA.

However, he said it was now possible to detect new strains very quickly, which

meant that procedures could be put in place in hospitals to stop it spreading.

“Going on past history that’s very possible that we will get new strains emerging.“But the positive side of it is that we’ll be able to detect it very, very quickly,” he said.

“In the last two years we have been able to stop the spread of some particularly nasty strains by identifying them quickly,” he added.

During Minister’s Questions, Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea asked the minister how many people under-26 were receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance, and if the change in payments after the Budget had reduced the unemployment fi gure for people under the age of 26.

Ms Burton told the Dáil there are 65,400 people under-26 receiving Job Seeker’s Allowance.

Mr O’Dea said that in the last Budget, social welfare payments to people under-26 were reduced quite substantially on the basis that they should be encouraged to apply for jobs or training places.

Ms Burton said that at the end of December last year there were 300,590 recipients of Job Seeker’s Allowance and up to 100,000 of them were working part-time or signing for credits and that number has fallen since.

She told Mr O’Dea that reduced rates of Jobseeker’s Allowance for younger people were fi rst introduced

when Fianna Fáil was in government in 2009.

She said that Budget 2014 further extended the rates of Job Seeker’s Allowance for recipients under-26.

This measure aims to incentivise young people to avail of education and training opportunities, she told the Dáil.

She added that if a young person in receipt of the reduced allowance participates in a training programme they will receive a higher weekly payment of €160.

There are currently 4,700 individuals under-26 who are entitled to a reduced rate of Jobseeker’s Allowance on a Solas-funded training course and about 5,000 are attending other courses such as Youthreach, she said.

She said that at the end of March there were 57,000 Jobseeker recipients under-26, of whom 36,800 were in receipt of a reduced Jobseeker’s Allowance.

The minister said that the equivalent fi gure for December 2013 was 65,400 jobseekers under-26.

She said that the rate of youth unemployment is falling signifi cantly as the Government is incentivising young people to get into training.

Mr O’Dea pointed out that under the old scheme if somebody could not access an education or training place they would not suffer a reduction in their jobseeker’s payment.

He said that in a reply to a parliamentary question received last week, the minister said that people between 16 and 65 who are neither in employment, training or education now numbers 85,200.

He said the changes in the Budget provided no incentive.

Quoting from former Minister for Social Welfare Mary Hanafi n, Ms Burton said Minister Hanafi n said in May 2009 that in order to incentivise young people to gain training opportunities, changes were been made to Jobseeker’s Allowance to protect people from welfare dependency.

Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton has said the rate of youth unemployment is falling signifi cantly as the Government is incentivising young people not to

be trapped in unemployment and is getting them into training.

T H E H A I R C U TA Documentary for Radio, on Newstalk 106-108fm, broadcasting this

Easter Monday TBD at 6pm

“For anybody who wants to come into this shop there is nothing to be afraid off ”

This is your chance to hear ‘The Hair Cut’, a fl y on the wall radio documentary shadowing life in Lucky’s African barbershop in Stoneybatter Dublin 7. If you walk by Lucky’s barbershop in Stoneybatter Dublin 7 you will defi nitely not miss it. Painted a bright blue with large windows facing both south and west it is no ordinary barbershop. Inside you will see a vibrant African community all bundled inside.

Luckys is not just a place to get your haircut though; it’s a thriving community of people from all over the African continent who come there to relax, chill, connect, watch a match and sometimes to dance. It is the center and focal point for African men living in Ireland.

The Hair Cut paints a picture of how life for an African man can be in Ireland. Some of these stories are not always positive and topics such as racism, how diffi cult it is for

emigrants to fi nd Irish friends, the drink culture, and interracial relationships are all discussed.

Quotes from The Hair Cut

“The fi rst time I came in here I was like, oh my goodness there are so many males in here.”

“Its one of the places like a reference point for everybody so like do you know Luckys salon – ok we will meet there. Even for people who just arrived into the country and they are looking for African people they will take you [taxi] straight to Lucky’s salon”.

“The fi rst time I came in I was very quiet. I wouldn’t say paranoid but I had a sense that these people are looking at me, I haven’t a clue what they are saying and I feel very wide open, very raw”.

“In the history of America, the barbershop is a very important place: it’s a center for diff erent activities beyond cutting the hair”

“Yes sometime we dance here, we put the music on and we just dance”.

“Culturally, settling here and acceptance people fi nd it pretty diffi cult. I think in Ireland - here its more diffi cult to be accepted as they are rather than say in a place like England where black people and Africans have being living there for years”.

“We would love to see the Irish come in here because we can cut any type of hair but few Irish are coming in here. We would love to see them come in so we can talk and chat”.

“I have being here almost fi ve years but I wouldn’t say I have any Irish friends, for one reason or another it is hard to get any Irish friends either a guy or a girl, because I tried to have friendship with some guys that I work with but - we can meet up in a pub, we drink but that’s it, nobody wants to know where you are living. Friendship in drinking and that is not friendship”.

A woman has been left nursing her love wounds after being dumped by her boyfriend who later eloped with her 19 years old daughter. The girl perhaps has an indelible signature that she had clandestinely subjugated to the ‘whopper’ and she is now four months pregnant. The incident of the alleged charmer boy-cum-domestic worker Patrick who was absolutely driving nuts both his girlfriend and her daughter with his sexual gymnastics left neighbors within the area tongue-tied.

It is reported that the cradle snatching started last year when she was reportedly seduced by her ‘stepfather’ until she succumbed to seduction during his regular visits at their house for a sleepover. It is alleged that the bed had been apparently going cold between Patrick and the girl’s mother when he reportedly shifted his pesky desires to her daughter.

In a bid to hoodwink the daughter to adult game, the man reportedly started buying the girl various presents behind her mother’s back. According to a report, the two who were now an item, reportedly started hitting off at B&Bs. The man allegedly continues playing the bedroom game with the daughter until she fell pregnant.

After the daughter’s belly became big with the man’s seed, the former who seemed to know the consequences of her actions did not tell her mother. She planned to elope with the man at the centre of the controversy. The matter eventually came to light after the mother caught the wind of the two’s romance and called her daughter for interrogation after which she found out about her pregnancy.

MAN IMPREGNATES DAUGHTER OF GIRLFRIEND AND ELOPES WITH HER

After being quizzed about the owner of the pregnancy, she said she could never divulge the name of the ‘culprit’. However Patrick, who was closely following the proceedings interjected and boastfully told his former girlfriend that he was the one who impregnated the girl. Failing to stomach the unbelievable news that her own daughter had snatched her ‘sexual banana’, the woman went and reported the matter to her close friends and family members, leading to Patricks’s eloping with her daughter to a neighbouring country.

Presently, the mother is still reeling with pain and felt so disappointed. Her daughter has brought shame to the family and thus committed an abominable act.

THE INTERVIEW

By ABDUL YUSUF

How will you rate the current government in Ireland since they took off in the heat of recession?

In terms of getting Ireland out of recession compared to other EU countries I would say this government has done well. Technically speaking, Ireland has passed the worst of the recession but in terms of business in general and the entertainment business in particular, it’s an uphill battle to break even.

What are you problems as an immigrant entrepreneur in Ireland?

We have a number of immigrant entrepreneurs in Ireland doing as best as they can under this diffi cult economic climate but I believe we have not reached our full potential. We have a lot more to offer given the opportunity. The fact that many people got their irish citizenship under this government has helped somewhat in the sense that we want to give back to a country that has given us so much.

Can you score the position of immigrant entrepreneur with yourself?

It is a very diffi cult time to be in business for everyone but understandably harder for me as an immigrant. Integrating within the entertainment scene would take a while but I’m ready to do what it takes because I’m passionate about what I do.

Can you describe your business as an event organiser?

As an Event Manager, I organise parties, meeting, seminars etc for diverse groups. We as immigrants need an outlet to let our hair down and have fun that’s why I came up with Noboring Junction. It’s a place where you come and just let go and unwind.

What is your suggestion to the government on small-scale businesses?

I believe the government should do a lot more for small scale businesses. It is practically impossible to get loans from fi nancial institutions. This makes it twice as hard to grow your business considering the already harsh economy.

What is your advise on immigrant entrepreneurs?

My advice to immigrant entrepreneurs is you have to follow dreams. There are a lot of business opportunities but it defi nitely would not be a walk in the park but if you are passionate about what you do, the hard work will pay off.

DR. DIARMUID MARTIN,

If all you desire is to become rich with or without the prerequisite that makes wealth accumulation possible because, you have neither the time, mindset, skills, or the plan to acquire riches, create a cooperative society or research and join a cooperative that meets with your desired path to fi nancial prosperity.

What must you do today to gain access to unlimited amount of fi nancial resources tomorrow or retire in a predetermined date with at least a six fi gure residual income without the use of your Identity, social status or your fi nancial capabilities?

Do you wait for an accident to happen before acquiring Insurance? Do you wait to get a million dollar or more to know what to do with it? Do you move into an empty acre of land before your dream house is built? How about fi nding your dream job before going to school or getting the training required?

If no to the questions above then answer this, why do most of us wait until we are in pressing need of cash before laying the foundation that will provide the money we need? There are certain orders that must be in place for certain things to happen effortlessly.

Other than the obvious, (i.e. to belong) why do you think people really join Clubs, Cooperatives, Associations, Organizations, Networks, Societies, and Professional Bodies?

First and foremost, people join any form of organization to establish trust, and unite those with common interests under an umbrella.

Establish and follow standard operating procedures. Take advantage of opportunity cost by benefi ting from each other. Anticipate and provide ongoing support and assistance to the needs of all members. Provide easy and reliable access to members by communicating to the entire group as a single unit.

Provide products, services and or special incentives

required by members to conduct their business and personal affairs in perfect harmony. Provide a level playing fi eld to all members in their quest to achieve ultimate fi nancial freedom irrespective of age, gender, colour, creed, and or Social status.

Build a correlation that will provide ultimate fi nancial freedom for all, that which will take members from where there are today to where they desire to be tomorrow.

Which do you think is easier, to get a €1,000,000 loan from a Bank, fi nancial brokers, a loan shark or to get 1,000,000 members with the same interest to donate €1 each to address your business goals; this is the core value of a cooperative society.

Why do one thing a million times when you can do a million things once; a cooperative society will provide you the opportunity to do a million things once. With only twenty four hours in a day, there is a limit to what one can accomplish working alone, a

cooperative society provides you time and income leverage; it is a vehicle that provides co-operators ultimate specialization in every fi eld of human endeavour.A cooperative setting provides opportunity cost that allows the utilization of the skills, specialization, labour, and resources of others to accomplish a desired end before remuneration is disbursed to all concerned.

My business plan is designed to organize a cooperative society that will enable co-operators generate a capital base of one million dollar or more in fi fteen years or less working one hour per day Monday through Friday while earning at least $45 per hour.

Wealth Accumulation is a matter of time and timing. It is about knowing what to do and taking action. It is more about following simple guidelines, than it is about how much money you have. Money + Return + Time + Compound Interest = Wealth. Anybody who applies this formula will ultimately generate annual income of a million

dollar or more.

Any amount of money with a suitable investment strategy and rate of return will generate millions in revenue. It is just a matter of coordinating time and risk in a workable business environment, to synchronize in perfect harmony.

As Tech_Pilot usually says, Technology is a continuous process, never stops, always newer ways of doing things and be even more effi cient. Taking a leap further, the technology of sensitive Gloves to accurately tap your screen without removing them is phenomenal. The new innovation for the winter gloves has a conductive fi bre that let you operate your touch-screen phones and other devices - but with extra added Bluetooth capabilities. The two hands are designed separately with different features; in the left glove’s thumb is a tiny speaker, and in the pinky is a wee microphone. By extending them both in the usual hand-gesture, you can chat with your friends for up to 20 hours on a charge!

This idea might appear “abnormal” with your fi ngers extended across from the ear to your mouth to answer or make a call but gone are the days. Now you can show the world that you can actually talk to the hand, and with excellent sound-quality.

The Gloves have a built in Bluetooth, compatible with all devices, a conductive fi bre that allows capacitive touch operation and a range distance of up to 40 feet with your device. The battery life is unreal, with about 20 hours of conversation and it can be

Talk with the Gloves on…

Nature cannot be stopped when it strikes; most times we just have to give in. It is possible to study its activities but defi nitely not stopping its occurrence. The weather as we know, changes from time to time depending on which part of the world.

The weather apparently decides our actions and reactions; before we step out for the daily schedules, it is imperative to consider the weather condition and that of course determine what we wear. Invariably, we design to suit or blend with the weather condition. As Tech_Pilot always describe that, Technology will continue to develop and make life more exciting and bearable. The Glove is probably seen mostly in the winter season and it clearly keeps our hands warm. The designs vary depending on whose hands they are.

A winter glove comes in different styles and designs and is made out of various materials. The wool, which is a natural fi bre, is the most commonly use material to make mittens and gloves. This material is light and provides enough warmth to the hands but remember that wool is not waterproof. Considering waterproof, the material will be Thinsulate and Goretex, same applies for other

different types, depending on the purpose of the glove. Defi nitely, gloves made from synthetic materials are oftentimes the best choice for outdoor use which invariably helps to keep you warm in the very harsh winter conditions. As we know, the gloves are made to fi t fi ngers and should make hands feel comfortable if well designed, the expectation is that when worn it should be light weight and not feel like you have them on at all. It should allow movement of the fi ngers enabling

you to perform your regular activities when they are on. The satisfaction of wearing a glove is more with the ability to complete simple task like turning the doorknob, grab your phone when needed and so on.

Now, talking about utilising your phone while gloves are on, it might be quite tasking or almost impossible to operate the functions of your phone when the gloves are on. It’s absolutely okay, if you only have to push a button as we

experience in the older model of phones. In these days of smart phones and tablets, people want to constantly be connected and reachable regardless of the weather conditions. Many businesses are now online and completed without physical presence of the parties involved. So what happens when the gloves are on, and you have a smart phone or tablet that is calling your attention in a terrible winter condition? In most cases, we remove the gloves, to enable the

natural touch on the screen THEN the hands are vulnerable and you could catch a cold and fall sick.

The answer is here, there are gloves now made to allow you still operate your touch screen devices without removing them. An example is the Glider Glove Winter it is a double-layered knit glove that will keep you warm in below-freezing temperatures; and fi ts snugly enough to conform to a range of fi nger sizes and provide reliable accurate screen taps.

Waiting Different

Poetry Lovers’ Page

Poetry Lovers' Page is the page where we will publish your poemsSend your poem to: [email protected]

I am waiting for something, i do not know what. Is it death in internal life or life in internal death.Am I waiting to be accepted. And if I am will it ever happen,

Am I waiting for love, of course not my mother would say.this time, I agree with her.So what am I waiting for?

Maybe I will never fi gure out, What I am waiting for.Is that bad?No I think not.

I am different. I speak my mind and I am honest. Some say it is admirable and unique. Some say it is down right rude, but those people are just angry, for they are not not different they are just like everybody else. But I am different and I am just fi ne with it.

I would rather be unique and abnormal, than plain and indifferent. Being different s not a bad thing. Albert Einstein was different, William Shakespear was different and Marie Antoinette, they were all different. Being different makes you unique and special.

It means that you are like no one else in the world. You speak differently, act differently and look differently because you ARE different. There is no rule against that. That is just what people ho want to be like you say to make you feel like you are not good enough. To make them feel better about themselves.

So what if I am different?
