Yes, I have jokingly called you “The Advanced Group.” Now, what I have been calling you is going to come to pass. Let me explain by sharing something I recently learned.

Animal groups have unique names when they dwell together (i.e., ants are colonies and bees are swarms). But the one that fascinates me is the rhino’s group name.

Did you know that Rhinos can run up to 30 mph? That’s incredible when you consider their weight. Just one problem though, their visual range is only 30 feet

forward. Just imagine something that large moving as a group, pushing 30 mph with no idea what’s beyond 30 feet in front of them? By looking at them, you might

think they could never reach that kind of speed, or that their inability to see ahead would paralyze them. But when they are grouped and with their horns “pointing

the way,” they run full steam ahead without fear. In fact, rhinos advancing at full-speed ahead are known as a “crash.”

I think that is what we are supposed to do -- Advance as an unstoppable force. We need to Advance together as God’s people to become the Bay Community

version of the rhino crash. Yes, the future is uncertain and we can’t see very far ahead, but we need to Advance the Love of God with confidence, because there is

a future to be created and people to be liberated.

As your pastor, I say we stop wasting our time and stop being afraid of what we cannot see. Let’s Advance forward, full-speed ahead, because of what we do know.

We may not be able to see very far into the future, but we are not blind to what is right in front of us . . . a community that is lonely and hopeless because of fear.

They need to encounter the “crash” of God’s true love and know that we are Advancing.

Help me make this Advance launch a group movement for the entire church. Move with me by sacrificially giving to “Advance the Kingdom of God.”

Join me in praying about the part God would have each of you play in truly being “The Advanced Group!”

Pastor Jerry

Bay Community Church began as a Sunday evening Bible Study with 35 people and “Sidewalk

Sunday School” on Saturday Mornings where we would take buses around the community to pick

up children so that they could hear the life-changing message of Christ.

Bay’s first services were held in a small, metal warehouse building on Park Drive in Daphne. We met in

that location for four years, ministering to adults, youth and children. In January 2003, about 300 people

moved into our 25,000 square foot Malbis Campus. Since then, we have expanded to five identical

weekend experiences and a Spanish campus, serving over 2000 adults and children every weekend. In

September 2009, Pastor announced the opening of a Mobile Campus in early 2010.

Many new and dynamic ministries have been and continue to be created to help minister to

individuals and families. But in the midst of all this exciting activity, we recognize that church

health is more important than numerical growth and church programs. At Bay, we recognize

that God has a specific plan and purpose for each person’s life. The broad scope and variety of

ministries at Bay are simply a reflection of our heart to help people of all economic, social and

ethnic backgrounds in our community and around the world.

“Trust in God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways

acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Ask God what he would have you give

“But this I say, He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully

shall reap also bountifully.” 2 Corinthians 9:6

On the weekend of October 16/17, 2010 each member will be asked to give sacrificially towards a one-

time offering and to make a three-year faith commitment.

“Each person should do as he has decided in his heart – not out of regret or out of necessity, for God

loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

We serve a mighty and awesome God. Trust that He will provide what He impresses you to give, even if

it is greater than the resources that you can readily identify or expect. Have faith in your commitment,

and the rewards will be eternal.
