Some Examples of What I Did

For more please check out:www.c3events.com

As part of my responsibilities as the Promotions Intern, I did

a lot of Graphic Design Work.

That included; small promos for the

Farmers’ Market, brochures,

Passes for our Ticketed Concert Series

and many other things

Always Calling Somebody

I generally had at least 3 spreadsheets open and a list of

people to try to sell booth space to.

Sometimes It’s the Dirty Work

One major lesson I have learned while working at C3 is that there is a lot of dirty work.

You have to keep your event clean, you have to keep your promotional items clean looking and you must keep your home base clean.

Even if that means digging through trash at one o’clock in the morning to find compostable products…

The Blog

The best part about the blog is that it gave me an initial opportunity to think about the experience I was having at my internship.

For example, there was my blog about the Riversong School Fundraiser. My area did not turn out as planned. I was so upset about the whole thing, but the blog made me realize that watching my part not turn out as planned was all part of the experience.

What I Read in the Blog

I really enjoyed reading the different blog posts.

Having us all do the blog gave everyone a chance to talk about what we were doing (the good, the bad and the status updates) but gave us all a chance to connect in a “we are all in this together” kind of way.

More About the Class Blog

The person in China helped me know that others were in my time zone predicament.

The person working for Meridian Entertainment let me see what I could have done had I taken that internship.

The girl working for Teen Vogue showed all of us what working for the fashion industry was like.

It gave us a way to see what else we could have done.

What Did the Internship Teach Me?

This internship taught me a lot, both about myself and about my future plans.

The first thing I learned was how important it is to have confidence in what you are doing. In any field where you take leadership in what you do, you have to be able to confidently say what needs to be done.

But with confidence you have to own up to the mistakes you and your company makes as well.

All of the interns and my boss Rebecca!

Confidence is Easy when you Cover the Details

The biggest example for this was all of the design elements I did.

For example, the website.

The website was the simple, most frustrating/time consuming task I did. I was constantly being told I was doing it wrong, but then I found creative ways to make it better.

But, when I was training the other interns to use it I realized how much I liked doing it, because it was MY project.

It Taught Me to Let Things Go

This internship taught me that more often than not you’re going to be yelled at more than praised.

It is important to make people feel that they are being listened to, but not to let it get to you.

C3 not only gave me the opportunity to learn this, but gave me the support when I needed it.

It Taught Me to Take Risks

Taking risks often allows you to have more

creativity in your work, and it draws attention to

the way you think. For me, it made the job a lot more fun, and brought its own challenges for me to

take on.

I jumped off a 30 foot cliff! And held a giant yellow snake!

But Finally, It Helped Me Feel Ready for a Full Time Job

I had the opportunity at the end of my internship to visit an advertising internship in Portland, OR and talk to a few people in Account Management.

I understood what they were talking about, and when they talked with me about what I had done both agreed that I had gotten the experience I needed to do their job.

I am very thankful for this experience.
