Australia to play China again - February 2012

China will be Australia's first hurdle to jump next year as it attempts to get back into the Davis Cup World Group in 2013.

After losing a heart-breaking tie to Switzerland after leading two rubbers to one, Australia is forced to spend another year in the Asia/Oceania Group 1 qualifying zone.

In the Davis Cups draw conducted in Bangkok Australia was drawn against China for a February 10-12 tie to be played in Australia at a venue to be decided.

With India enjoying the bye in the first round, Australia will have to play a second round in the Asian/Oceania Zone if it wins.

If victorious in the second tie, it will then take on a first-round loser from the 2012 elite Davis Cup Group for the right to re-enter the main competition in 2013.

Earlier this year Australia recorded a 3-1 victory in its zonal tie against China, in Beijing.

In World Group action, the United States is drawn to play Switzerland in a first-round 2012 tie with the Swiss at home for this event.

Spain and Argentina, the 2011 finalists, were the top seeds at the draw. Spain will host Kazakhstan and Argentina will travel to Germany Other fixtures include Austria v Russia, Canada v France, Czech Republic v Italy, Serbia v Sweden and Japan v Croatia.
