Costume & Make-Up Research ACTOR 2 - TEENAGE FEMALE

I want the actress’ style to be reflective of the indie rock genre, by having her wear ripped jeans, a t-shirt or a

flannel. However I have also decided that I want to show the female actor dressed up all fancy as if she is ready to go out. Despite the potential outfit change in my music video, I

want to keep the makeup the same throughout. I have chosen Josie as my model because I know that she will be able to fit into both of these roles well due to the previous modelling work that we have done together. I will keep the

actress’ hair the same throughout the video in order to show consistency. The actress’ hair will be wavy throughout

the music video because it will look effortless which is reflective of the indie rock genre. Throughout this

powerpoint, I am going to collect different images of makeup looks and outfits that are similar to how I want this actress to be styled or give me inspiration for how to style her. I shall then conduct some research into the different makeup products and clothing items that are available for

me to use when styling the actress.

Makeup:Throughout the music video, Josie’s makeup will remain the same. It shall be reflective of makeup which is currently ‘on trend’ in order to make the video appear current. This includes; winged black

eyeliner, brown ‘smokey eye’, thick/dark eyebrows, a bold lipstick, a contoured face and a flawless

complexion. By using this makeup look the actress will appear ‘ordinary’ which will allow the target audience

to relate to and admire the actress. I feel like using red lipstick will contrast with the black background

and really make the colour ‘pop’. This makeup look is versatile and can therefore be worn both casually and when going out. This will therefore work with the two

different outfit ideas that I have for the actress.

Outfit Inspiration:The lighting in my video is going to be coloured and the colour filters are going to be shown on the actors

skin. Therefore as long as the clothing that the actress is wearing is plain and simple then it doesn't really matter what she is wearing. I want the outfits that Josie wears to be all black, this is because they will

blend in with the all black background and allow the colour filter to really stand out. However having

looked into my target audiences style, I want to make sure that the clothing that the actress is wearing is

somewhat similar. This will make the video appeal to them more and make the more interested in what they

are watching.
