Empowerment of underprivileged youth and children: o Development of proactive attitudes o Promotion of cultural understanding o Increasing awareness about rights of children and youth o Development of communication and team-work skills o Career opportunity development o Improvement of English language skills

Background of the project The Active Summer project was started by AIESEC Norway, in 2011, with the goal of having a positive impact in the Norwegian society. This project took place in 2011 in Oslo and in 2012 both in Oslo and Trondheim, having already reached a total of 150 children.

Why should your Business be involved?

• Your support will involve talented volunteers with vast previous organizational and leadership experience into creating a summer camp for underprivileged youth in Norway.

• Be part of a socially important initiative focused on the issue of social inclusion • Support of North-South cooperation and exchange of youth between countries • Bring international perspective into work, expand worldview • Break existing stereotypes about different countries and cultures • Provide something unique for the summer camp participants

The support will enable us to create a summer camp for a group of underprivileged youth in a local community in the Norwegian society. It will increase cultural understanding and integration which many people see as a major challenge in the Norwegian society today. Many of the participants connected to (name of reception center) are kids who have already had a difficult life experience. Sponsoring this project will hence be a part of creating an experience for this youth, which is of a great impact and importance not only for the summer of 2013 but also for further development and learning.

Active Summer 2013

Present in 3 Municipalities This year, we will held Active Summer in three municipalities: Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim, expecting to reach over 200 children in Norway.

Timeline of the project The activity camps will be conducted over a period of 4 weeks throughout June and July 2013 and will consist of a number of different activities created for the youth. The activities are a variety of different sports, music, dancing as well as soft skills development, playing and leisure time. The project will in total last for six weeks, with one week of preparations, four weeks of activity camp, and one week of evaluation at the end of the project. Multicultural Staff AIESEC projects are led by internationals, all of which are talented and highly motivated university students or recent graduates in one of the 113 countries where AIESEC is present. Our projects represent a global youth voice and provide for a dynamic multicultural experience to students worldwide. The goal of the project is that, a minimum of 15 highly qualified AIESECers, will have an experience that challenges and develop them, and that the children who are offered the activities will benefit of being part of an educational and active summer program. The number of internships in each project will differ according to the size of the asylum center, but 15 are standard.

Cooperation with Hero Norge For the past years, AIESEC has been cooperating with Hero Norge (responsible for reception centers), in creating activity camps for the youth connected to their center. In 2013, this partnership will be central to the success of the project, with Hero being closely involved.

Global Village At the end of the camp in July, all the participants, their families, sponsors of this project as well as other persons involved in the project will be invited to an event where there will be a focus on different cultures and uniting these cultures. There will be food; music and dance from different cultures and the sponsors of the camp will have an opportunity to promote themselves.
