Do you know what to do if someone starts shooting at your workplace, at school, at the mall or movie theater? While no one wants to believe it could happen to them, having some basic training and a response plan could be the difference between life and death should it ever occur. This 2 hour class is an introduction to preparation for and response to an active shooter and is appropriate for the general public. Taught by Lieutenant Scott Baxter from the Dubuque Police Department, this class will address recognizing the signs of potential violence, characteristics of an active shooter, and creating an emergency action plan to respond if an active shooter is in your vicinity.
• Profile/history/definition characteristics of an active shooter;
• Coping with and responding to an active shooter or other workplace violence situation;
• How to respond when an active shooter is in your vicinity;
• How to respond when Law Enforcement arrives;
• Training for an active shooter situation and creating an emergency action ; and
• Tips for recognizing signs of potential workplace violence.
