Comte de Vogue Musigny2011

Deep, dark red. An elixir of dark berries on the nose, with complicating notes of crushed stone, menthol and flowers. Thick but weightless and youthfully imploded, with an element of spicy acidity giving outstanding cut and primary character to the blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors. Finishes dense and strong, with powerful tannic support and late hints of espresso and bitter chocolate. Fully ripe in the context of the vintage, and built for an extended evolution in bottle

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2009

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2009 promises to be a great wine: light, soft and delicate cherry stone and fresh cherry flavours with a long mineral finish. Beautiful

Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 2005

Page 7: About Burgundy & Pinot Noir Wine

Like the 2006, this is presently brooding and even more backward with only grudging and very ripe notes of plum, spice and earth in evidence where the earthy character can also be found on the textured, velvety and mouth coating full-bodied flavors blessed by superb depth of material and so much dry extract that the finish is borderline chewy but not at all aggressive. A serious wine that will need at least 15 and probably 20 years to really be at its best but when it arrives, it should more than repay the wait. Note that in my strong opinion it is pointless to purchase this and try to enjoy it young as it really will need extended bottle age to justify the price of admission

Mommessin Clos de Tart 1999

Ruby-red. Vibrant, precise aromas of black fruits, violet, minerals and gun metal. A wine of great breadth and verve; still quite closed but already displays great energy in the middle palate. Flavors of raspberry and gunflint offer lovely restrained sweetness. Solidly structured but not hard; still, this wine firm acids and solid tannins call for a good 8 to 10 years of bottle aging.

Comte de Vogue Musigny 2008

Page 11: About Burgundy & Pinot Noir Wine

The 2008 Musigny Vieilles Vignes is a wine I could smell all day. The explosive bouquet literally jumps from the glass, followed by deep, beautifully delineated layers of fruit. This shows terrific concentration and depth, dazzling finesse, and a nicely pointed, direct finish. It is an eternal wine.” 97 points, Antonio Galloni Vinous

Genot-Boulanger Clos de Vougeot 2010

100% Pinot Noir.Power and grace combine with enormous character in this Grand Cru Burgundy. Located in the southeastern block of the largest single vineyard in the Côte de Nuits entitled to Grand Cru status, the soil is dense, providing for intense structure. Rustic raspberry and red cherry aromas evolve toward stewed red fruit qualities with earthy notes. Fabulous wine from a fabulous vintage.

Mommessin Clos de Tart 2009

Good bright, deep red. Knockout nose combines cherry liqueur, raspberry jam, mocha and clove. At once velvety and energetic, with strong acidity enlivening the intense flavors of candied red fruits. The nobility of texture and tannins here is remarkable. Finishes extremely long and scented, with late suggestions of torrefaction. This made the very promising 2010 Clos de Tart seem lean by comparison
