About Airlas LLC

Founded by three inaugural members of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Un-

manned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Working Group, actively developing policies and proce-

dures in support of field operations and research, Airlas LLC joins the UAS community as a

Delaware limited liability company with the object and purpose of efficiently, legally, econo-

mically and safely performing research, development and operation of the disruptive tech-

nology for contemplated and uncontemplated uses to benefit the public’s safety and happi-

ness over certain areas of the United States and other countries.

As New Jersey natives—providing close to sixty combined years of continuing volunteer

emergency service to the state’s residents and visitors—Airlas founders were first respon-

ders during the tragic disasters of 2001. Their familiarity with street-level interface uni-

quely compliments their professional experiences spanning careers in telecommunications

and technology, coordination of human organ and tissue procurement, work for nationally

recognized plaintiffs’ litigation firms, practice in dental medicine, as well as leaders of elec-

ted and appointed public office.

Aiding as one of the NJIT UAS Working Group’s pioneers during field operations in Janu-

ary 2015—harnessing his previous experiences in legal administrative matters and incident

command within a mobile command center—an Airlas founder served as the on-site admin-

istrative operations officer, collaboratively achieving the history-making first flight of pub-

lic UAS in New Jersey’s national airspace at USCG TRACEN Cape May. Working alongside

partners and contributors executing the successful flights during the first campaign, the re-

sponsibilities and scope of his service supported interagency planning and coordination, me-

eting research objectives, compliance and conformity to the material aspects prescribed by

FAA authorizations and waivers, and on-site designee for verification, maintenance, custo-

dian and distributor of commands related to all critical physical documents—inclusive of

authorizations, research data, activity logs, ground security plans, flight line briefings, con-

tracts and releases.

Airlas strives to employ UAS technology which reduces negative impact on the environ-

ment, provides a safer alternative for people and businesses to conduct land and equipment

inspections, and greatly reduces decision-making cycles for clients and the at-large public.
