ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER STUDIES UNIT

The Alternative Entry Pathways Scheme for undergraduate programs is designed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants who are interested in pursuing a tertiary education. The scheme considers a range of factors in addition to formal education, such as your employment history, academic abilities,

personal interests, community

involvement and references.

Under the scheme, applicants are eligible for up to an additional five bonus rank points (or OP equivalent) to assist with your entry into The University of Queensland. Certain program prerequisites may be waived if you can provide a compelling case to demonstrate your suitability for your preferred program based on work experience or training.

QTAC applications open in August 2017 for Semester 1, 2018

Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.STEP

Apply via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

List UQ as a preference in your QTAC application.STEP

Complete and submit an Alternative Entry Application form and attach the required documentation.

Attend an interview with the Student Support team from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit.

STEP

Accept your offer via QTAC, if recommended.STEP

6

Attend the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit’s Pre-Orientation Program.
