1954 – the stock was flooded –

Jens Terp-Nielsen applied for a loan in

the bank to save his business, but was

rejected. A new lawyer had come to town

and decided to act as surety for a loan.

To show his gratitude, Jens made him a

member of the board in Sækko, where he

stayed until his death in 2003

Loyalty is crucial to Abena

this time Sækko was in risk of bankruptcy –

Fuglsang came to the aid

1980 Sækko starts own-production of the absorbent

products Bambo baby diapers, large scale pads for

adults and sanitary towels. Furthermore, we source

incontinence pads from Holland. A new era has

begun and the company begins to focus more on

the health care industry

2003 In 2003, the 2nd generation of owners,

Preben and Arne Terp-Nielsen decide

to change the company name from

Preserving the environment is important to Abena

Danish production facility recycles 95% of all production

waste in a cradle-to-cradle concept = waste is recycled

into a new product or raw material

Abena is a member of UN Global Compact

We are certified with the Nordic Eco-label on our

inco pads, baby diapers and products in the

skin care and body wash range

and waste compared to production levels
