GO AROUND MUST BE PERFORMED IN CASE OF:• ALPHA FLOOR ACTIVATION• LOSS OF AP (CAVALRY CHARGE)• DOWNGRADING CAPABILITY (TRIPLE CLICK)• MASTER CAUTION (AMBER) + SINGLE CHIME• ENGINE FAILURE• NO LAND MODE @ 350 RA• ATC ORDER• TWR WIND COMPONENT EXCEEDED

LAND MODEEngages automatically when acft reaches 400 RA (350 RA latest) during approach only when LOC and G/S modes are engaged. The FMA displays LAND indicating that LOC and G/S are locked.LAND mode arms FLARE and ROLLOUT (not annunciated on FMA).

TRANSMITTER FAILURE BELOW 200 FT RAIf transmitter failure occurs:AUTOLAND warning appears indicating performing of GO AROUND must be initiated with 1 or 2 AP engaged
TRANSMITTER FAILURE ABOVE 200 FT RAIf transmitter failure lasts • less than 7 sec:• FMA retains LOC and G/S (or LAND) and AP is able to
regain these modes• If transmitter failure lasts • more than 7 sec:• AP disengages and FD returns to its basic modes • (HDG-V/S)

FLARE MODEEngages automatically at 30 RA latest(function of V/S).
40 RA
RETARD MODEAvailable only during autoland: AP engaged in LAND.At approx. 40 RA RETARD MODE engages and remains engaged after touchdown. A/THR commands IDLE thrust during flare and FMA displays IDLE (also on E/WD).
If AP is disengaged during flare before touchdown SPEED mode replaces RETARD mode - manually reduce thrust.Note:In autoland the system generates RETARD callout at 10 ft RA in order to prompt pilot to move thrust levers to idle in order to confirm thrust reduction. In manual landing the system generates RETARD callout only as a remainder.

ROLLOUT CAT3DUALDH 20
AP1+21FD2
ROLL OUT MODEAt touchdown ROLL OUT mode engages and guides the aircraft along runway centerline. The FMA displays ROLL OUT in green. The PFD displays the YAW BAR and no FD bars.

AUTOLAND WARNINGFlashes with LAND or FLARE mode on the FMA when the aircraft is below 200 ft RA and on of the following occurs:• both AP lost (fail)• loss of LOC signal above 15 ft (transmitter or receiver)• loss of G/S signal above 100 ft (transmitter or receiver)• aircraft gets too far of the beam (LOC and/or G/S flash on PFD)• difference between both Radio Altimeters (RA) greater than 15 ft RA
WARNING OF EXCESSIVE BEAM DEVIATIONThis warning is a flashing of LOC and/or G/S scales on the PFD and ND ROSE ILS if:• LOC deviation is greater than 1/4 dot (above 15 RA)• G/S deviation is greater than 1 dot (above 100 RA)Note:LAND mode remains engaged.
FAILURE OF BOTH LOC AND G/S RECEIVERSThe PFD and ND ROSE ILS display red LOC and G/S flags (if LS pb pressed in).LOC and G/S scales disappears from PFD.If LOC and G/S modes are engaged and at least on AP/FD engaged:• AP disengages• FD reverts to basic HDG-V/S or TRK-FPA modes
FAILURE OF LOC AND/OR G/S TRANSMITTER (if captured):• the corresponding index is lost• LOC and/or G/S scales flash• the corresponding FD bars flash

ALERT HEIGHTAH is the height above the runway, based on the characteristics of the airplane and its fail operational system, above which, for a CAT III approach a go around must be initiated if a failure occurs in one of the redundant parts of the automatic landing system, or in the relevant ground equipment - AUTOLAND light triggered. For A320 the Alert Height is 100 ft RA
DECISION HEIGHTDH is the wheel height above the runway elevation by which a go-around must be initiated unless adequate visual reference has been established and the aircraft position and approach path have been assessed as satisfactory to continue the approach and land in safety.
A.FLOOR INHIBITION(AVAIL UNTIL 100 RA)
LOW ENERGY WARNING INHIBITION (AVAIL 2000 -
100 RA)
PWS & RWS INHIBITION (AVAIL 1300 - 50 RA)
FMGS freezes landing capability until LAND MODE disengages (both AP OFF) - FMA remains. Below AH single AP failure (downgrading from two AP to one) is
not indicated - no FMA downgrading.
ADVISE ATC WHEN AUTOLAND IN CAT I
DOWNGRADING FROM CAT3 TO CAT2• ECAM actions completed• RVR at least CAT II minima• briefing amended to include CAT II procedure and DH
DOWNGRADING FROM CAT2 TO CAT1• ECAM actions completed• RVR at least CAT I minima• at least one FD available• briefing amended to include CAT I procedure and MDA
If A/THR is lost below 1000 RA - GO AROUND, then only CAT II approach is allowed. If A/THR disconnects below 100 RA then continue with THR LOCKED.

MABH - Minimum Approach Break-off Height is the lowest height of the wheels above the runway at which it is demonstrated that a go-around can be carried out without external visual references according to the standard procedure, with an acceptable level of safety. For A320 MABH is 20 ft (EU-OPS)
