TEXTS?

Here you can clearly see that we have interlinked our magazine advert and front cover of our digipack very closely. They only visual difference other than the amount of text is the colour schemes, this is because we anted people to be able to spot it on the shelf after seeing it in a magazine. The reason fro the colour in the advert is to directly contrast the potentially black and white page opposite, the front cover was always going to be in black and white so that it plays along with the theme of nostalgia shown heavily in the music video. Also the fonts in both images are exactly the same so that they will be easily recognized as those used by the artist and when they see them they will think about the album.

How does the front panel link to the video? The front panel shows the same younger boy as seen in the music video looking out onto Paris known as the city of love. The front also has a very similar colour scheme to all the shot of the boy in the video, black and white tone for the majority of shots as seen below it at the river. By keeping the same guy it will help us market the song weathered which is a reflection on youth thus making the younger boy key to the CD and by using the same or similar colour schemes when showing him in the digipack as in the video it is a clear link between the two and allow audience to continue to discover more about the story line though buying the digipack.

How does the CD Link with the music video? The CD picture was actually taken from the video itself. We used a screen shot of the fire fit which can be seen in our video and opposite under the final copy. We had strong shot of both the couple relaxing by the fire and the younger boy toasting a marshmallow on it creating synergy between the two timelines and also allowing it to be an important part of his childhood memories which was the idea for the digipack at the start having it as a memory box which had we not had out piece deleted I am confident we would have done more to ensure this.

How does the back panel link to the video? The concept for the back panel was that it would be a pin board created by the older boy holding some of his memories. So within this board we have a receipt for the bowling ally, tickets from the games that they won, photos of the younger boy and even the magazine advert picture just under I couldn’t want you anyway. Also some of the polaroid taken for the opening of the video were pined in place and swimming badges from when he was younger. This is the main panel for people who enjoyed the narrative in the video as it is pretty much all of our panning and test shot were used here even a sketch of what we had hoped the video would look like is used.

As part of this board we added in a photo of the actual artist in the top right hand corner which is meant to be showing the boy’s favourite artist and I feel sits in well with the rest of the pack. The reason for the white outlines of the tracks is so that they stand out and so that it feels as if they were labels being placed link reminders or thoughts be has once had which is why we used that font so it would look as if he had written it.

Concept behind the inside coverThe inside cover features the girl from the video and the boy. The idea here was that he had visited the same place when he was younger and was sharing it with the girl as he did in the video. The burning was to show how time had passed and memories will fade as they grow older thus the fire is time slowly eroding away the memories. The writing is the lyrics of the title track Weathered, the reason why we did it in this was was to make it look like it was a love letter from jack to his fans or as the older boy writing it to his girlfriend.
