Back To School Message From Mrs. Davis What a pleasure it is to welcome the Buccaneer Nation to the 2014-15 school year! School is amazing in many ways, and one of the most delightful is that each year is marked with a new beginning. I challenge each student to establish goals and work towards them. Only through earnest effort will our future leaders grow and become even more responsible with each goal achieved. As the principal at GHS, it is my honor and pleasure to assist the 1284 students in attendance as they find their way pursuing their hopes and dreams. Helping young adults realize their potential and reach for their successes sustains me after 26 years in education. We have assembled a great supporting staff here at GHS, including many dedicated teachers and school-related support staff. All of us join together to create an undergirding of support that allows students to pursue their interests and causes. We have a strong record of academic achievement and a proud history in the community of New Port Richey. We welcome new families and students into this partnership. Please let us know if we may assist you as students follow the PATH to college, career and life readiness. Kim Davis Principal
Don’t Forget to Sign up for eSembler . . . Again!
1
eSembler is a great tool for parents and students to keep track of attendance, grades and assignments. But in order for that tool to work properly, parents must create an account every year.
There are so many students who graduate or move to other districts every June, that the school district does not automatically renew the eSembler accounts for each family.
We recommend that you
2
sign up as soon as possible so that you can track your student’s progress.
Don’t forget to include your own contact information so that teachers can contact you with important dates and assignment reminders.
In addition, make sure that you make note of teacher contact information so you can contact them with any questions you may have about grades, attendance and assignments.
Information on eSembler is not limited to academic progress in individual
3
classes. It also documents FCAT scores, lunch balances, community service hours, and grade point averages.
Also, coaches may submit names of athletes so that sports participation will also appear on the eSembler site.
Every year these things are available to every parent and student. But you must sign up … EVERY YEAR!
