DAY 1 MONDAY, MAY 1, 2017 TRAVEL DAY (IF) Depart today for your overnight flight to Barcelona, Spain!

DAY 2 TUESDAY, MAY 2, 2017 BARCELONA (D) Upon arrival in Barcelona, we'll meet our guide, and begin our transfer to our modern and stylish hotel, located within walking distance of some of the city's most beautiful attractions. En route, our guide will delight us with a panoramic tour of this cosmopolitan city. “Welcome” dinner is included today. Rest up tonight—tomorrow, we begin our grand adventures!

DAY 3 WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 2017 BARCELONA (B) This morning, awake to enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel before we depart for a guided sightseeing tour of the magnificent narrow lanes and old squares behind the cathedral, the famous Las Ramblas, once quoted by a Spanish poet as, “the only street in the world which I wish would never end,” and Passeig de Gracia, regarded as the most expensive street in Barcelona and Spain, as well as containing several of the city's most celebrated pieces of architecture. As we make our way to the L'Eixample district, we'll stop for entrance to La Sagrada Familia. Under construction since 1882, this Basilica, was the all-consuming obsession of architect, Antoni Guadi. With an extensive network of extraordinary pillars soaring toward the ceiling to create a massive image of a tree, windows that give the effect of filtered sunlight through forest branches, swelling spires, and minimal use of straight lines, there is an undeniable fascination with this masterpiece! The remainder of the afternoon and evening are free for you to explore the wonders of this vibrant city.

DAY 4 THURSDAY, MAY 4, 2017 BARCELONA/GRANADA (BD) After breakfast at the hotel this morning, we'll board our motorcoach for transfer to the local airport for a flight to Granada, where you're about to fall in love. Granada has an allure that's hard to ignore. We'll stop first at El Mirador de San Nicolas, for unbeatable views of the city, Alhambra Palace, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. You won't want to miss the photo op here! Enjoy lunch on own before we're off to the Palace of Alhambra. Built as a “paradise on Earth,” by 13th century caliphs, the palace ranks among the world's finest examples of Moorish architecture. This is truly one of Spain's most celebrated monuments. Dramatically perched atop Assabica Hill, overlooking the entire city, this imposing hilltop fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the reign of the Moors, the Alhambra served as the summer residence of the royal family. Walk along the lanes of the serene Generalife Gardens, with its beautifully designed courtyards, waterfalls and ponds, along with views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There's so much to discover here! Late afternoon we check into our accommodations for the next two nights, Hotel Alhambra Palace. We'll close our day with dinner together at the hotel.

DAY 5 FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2017 GRANADA (B) Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning and then we're off for another spectacular day! We'll travel first to Malaga, a city that lies along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and is known as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Our first stop is at Alcazaba, Malaga's most important landmark. With an original construction date around 756-780AD, this is the best-preserved Moorish fortress palace in Spain. Next, we'll head over to Museo Picasso, a museum celebrating the works of Pablo Picasso, whose styles and techniques changed the course of modern art. With almost 300 works, spanning eight decades, the importance of these pieces will impact even the most novice art “explorers!” Early afternoon we return to Granada. Enjoy dinner on own.

DAY 6 SATURDAY, MAY 6, 2017 GRANADA - SEVILLE (BD) Following breakfast at the hotel, we'll depart for Seville, the capital of southern Spain's Andalusia region. The afternoon is at leisure to explore this flamboyant, charismatic metropolis. This evening a dinner cruise on the Guadalquivir River, complete with a Paella cooking demonstration awaits!

DAY 7 SUNDAY, MAY 7, 2017 SEVILLE (B) After breakfast, we're off for a full-day guided sightseeing tour in Seville! We'll view the Plaza de Espana, a majestic architectural complex built as the central office for the Ibero-American Exposition, a world fair held in Seville in 1929. It is located in the fragrant Maria Luisa Park, the city's principal green area, delightfully decorated with ceramic-tiled benches, fountains, pools, statues and monuments. We'll explore the narrow streets and many beautiful plazas of the quaint old Santa Cruz Quarter before entrance to the Giralda Bell Tower, built as a minaret in 1198, and the Cathedral, the world's largest Gothic monument. Begun in 1401, this immense Gothic cathedral took more than a century to complete. Inside, view the tomb of Christopher Columbus. We'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before we are off to tour the Palace of Alcazar. Because of its beauty, this palace, built in 913 by Abd Al Ramn III, was chosen as residence by many monarchs in the centuries that followed. It is now the residence of His Royal Majesty Juan Carols when he visits Seville. Enjoy dinner on own before our evening entertainment, Flamenco Dancing!

DAY 8 MONDAY, MAY 8, 2017 SEVILLE - MADRID (B) We'll start our day with breakfast at the hotel before departing for the historic city of Cordoba. Founded by the Romans, this city is one of the most cultured and refined cities of medieval Europe. We'll visit La Mezquita de Cordoba, a masterpiece of architecture and art that reveals its nearly 1,200 year history as an early Christian church, a Moorish mosque, and since the 16th century, a Roman Catholic cathedral. Its candy-striped walls and decorative details will astound you. There will be time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant on own before continuing our journey to Madrid via the AVE high speed train! Upon arrival in Madrid, we'll transfer to our hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.

DAY 9 TUESDAY, MAY 9, 2017 MADRID (BD) Following breakfast this morning, we'll begin our full-day guided sightseeing tour of Madrid! We'll drive along the Grand Via through the Opera District and the Plaza de Colon, and pass through Puerto del Sol Plaza and Plaza de Espana, with its monument to author, Cervantes. We'll have a view of the elegant Plaza Mayor before stopping at the world-renowned Prado Museum, where you'll stand before the astonishing masterpieces by Velazquez, Goya, El Greco, and others. We'll enjoy lunch on own, followed by some free time to relax or explore this afternoon. Later, we'll visit the magnificent Royal Palace, Europe's second largest and the official residence of the Royal Family. It is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in Spain. There is much to see here! This evening, we will visit 3 local bar/restaurants for a palate-pleasing Spanish culinary experience on the Madrid Tapas Trail!

DAY 10 WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2017 MADRID (BD) Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before starting our full-day excursion to Toledo. A guided tour will take us walking through the maze of narrow, cobblestone streets of this monument-filled city to the Synagogue de Santa Maria la Blanca, complete in 1203. Since its inception, it has served as a synagogue, church, carpenter's workshop, store, barracks, and refuge for some of Madrid's more “colorful” residents. Next, Santo Tome Church welcomes us. Here, we'll view El Greco's most famous painting, which remains in the chapel for which it was ordered over four centuries after its creation. Our final admission is to the Cathedral, ranked among the greatest Gothic structures in Europe and site of many historic events. After lunch in Toledo, we'll return to Madrid for a free afternoon and dinner with the group.

DAY 11 THURSDAY, MAY 11, 2017 HOME (B) After breakfast, we depart for the airport where we'll board our flight home, filled with memories of tapas, grand palaces, newly found slices of history!
