Late one afternoon, EJ and Maria were driving along when EJ hit an old carburetor lying in the road.
“That doesn’t belong out here,” Maria exclaimed. “Yeah, it could hurt someone,” EJ grumbled, rubbing his cheek.

“Why don’t you bring it over to the junkyard?” said Maria, handing EJ the part.
“No way! The Compactor is there waiting to crush cars into tiny cubes! A kid in my class was there one time and heard an awful screech that scared him so bad, he needed to sleep with his dome light on!”
“Go to the junkyard alone??” EJ swallowed hard.

“You’re not going to let a story like that scare you?” Maria smiled. “I thought you were a courageous super hero.”
“I’m sure you have it in you, EJ,” Maria assured.
“COTU might be brave, but I’m not,” EJ said. “Besides, he’s just imaginary.”
“I don’t know, Maria. Maybe I’ll let COTU handle this one,” EJ said doubtfully.

And so, imagining himself as the brave hero COTU, EJ valiantly sped through the City of Auto.
“Flying into the face of fear, courageous COTU carries the critical component -- a corroded carburetor into the clutches of the creepy ... er ... uh ... junkyard,” EJ announced as he arrived.
“I guess it’s not so bad,” he said, staring at the huge wooden gates.
