Michelob and Graphic Packaging International Enhance the "Cool" Image of Anheuser-Busch's new 16 Oz. Aluminum Bottle with a new 4 - Pack Basket Carrier Marketing research has always shown that packaging is a key motivator in attracting consumers and the "aluminum bottle" is one of the "hottest" new primary packages in the beverage market today. Anheuser-Busch is using the high-tech, premium package to position its Michelob and Michelob Light Brands to become the "Coolest" package among young adults. Anheuser-Busch chose Graphic Packaging to develop a new 4 pack carrier for the new 16 oz. container. The results are 4-pack baskets that mirror the graphics on the tall 16 oz. bottle. Anheuser-Busch is targeting the premium brand to young adults who enjoy the tactile experience of the aluminum bottle. The bottle offers a unique allure to help bring wine and spirits consumers back into world of premium and specialty beer. The "Ruff-Rider TM " style baskets were printed sheet-fed offset, 5 colors plus varnish for the standard Michelob Brand and 3 colors plus varnish for Michelob Light. Both baskets were manufactured using Graphic Packaging's .018 caliper Aqua-Kote ® wet-strength paper board.
