Many people have allergies to fragrances and perfumes, so we try to keep our church a scent-free zone in consideration of the health and wellbeing of others! Thank you!

We encourage you to prepare for worship this morning. Read and reflect on the Scripture lessons listed in the service bulletin; pray for right understanding the Bible. Perhaps this prayer may help you begin your preparation today:

We praise You, O God, our Creator and Redeemer. We thank You for We praise You, O God, our Creator and Redeemer. We thank You for this day with its overarching goodness and grace that comes from Your hand. May this hour of worship be like streams in the desert that provide joy, beauty, and refreshment. We gather with a variety of experiences and expectations even so, we are confident that You can hear the longings of our hearts. We worship You in adoration and praise. Your grace is near us in the calm and in the storm. We wait before You seeking to discern Your holy will and desiring to be a faithful church of Jesus Christ, our Lord. In His name we pray. Amen!

God is here! As we Your people meet to offer praise and prayer, May we find in fuller measure what it is in Christ we share. Here, as in the world around us, all our varied skills and arts Wait the coming of the Spirit into open minds and hearts.

Here are symbols to remind us of our life-long need of grace: Here are table, water, pulpit; here the cross has central place. Here are table, water, pulpit; here the cross has central place. Here in honesty of preaching, here in silence, as in speech; Here, in newness and renewal, God the Spirit comes to each.

Lord of all, of church and kingdom in an age of change and doubt, Keep us faithful to the gospel; help us work Your purpose out.

We, who cannot live without You, we adore You! We believe!

of R students at MarkWest?...or when M heard God in prayer for the first time?...and when J. the friend who laughed at the idea of Bible Study came out to every Friday night event, eventually studying scripture with us all semester? studying scripture with us all semester?

The last week of August is precious time. Falling in that Crux between end of summer and the launching of a month of New Student Outreach. It is both a gathering back, a reflecting time, and one for visioning and planning as we prepare to meet and welcome hundreds of new students.

Last week we gathered with our 12 Core leaders for a week of preparation, prayer and visioning for the semester ahead. It was a rich offering of gifts, hearing stories, recalling what God has been up to during our summers, and how he was on the move last year in the community. It is from here, a place of wonder, remembering and trust in community. It is from here, a place of wonder, remembering and trust in

I pray that as they step out in courage, faith, and in leadership, that they would be met deeply. I long, too, for the larger campus to be impacted and for more students to be brought into the family.

It was good exercise for my faith, too, to end our leaders camp by

I hope to be sharing with you how I see God working towards these things in our campus throughout this year. Thank you so much for your part in it, the prayers and support as so essential.

Open House September 14th, 9:30 a.m. Open House September 14 , 9:30 a.m. Whether you rarely miss a class or you ve never been, join us on the 14th for an introduction to the two subjects available this fall, focusing respectively on scripture and prayer. Come hear about the range of topics we have covered in the past, and have a say in what we cover next. Everyone is welcome, no one knows too much or too little to take part in these discussions on the Christian life.

Letters to Timothy and Titus Facilitator: Annabel Robinson These three letters, two to Timothy and one to Titus, are unlike Paul s other letters (except Philemon) in that they were written not to Paul s other letters (except Philemon) in that they were written not to churches, but to two of his younger co-workers, whom he has left in charge of the churches in Ephesus and Crete, respectively. These letters are both personal and practical, and we learn something of their author, probably Paul, as well. The topics they cover include Christian character, qualifications for Christian leadership, women in the church, the Scriptures, and heresy. The class will allow plenty of time for discussion of how this applies to us today.
