FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

Welcome in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Bibles (blue cover) and hymnbooks (brown cover) are provided for your

use.

A nursery is available in the lower hall for infants and toddlers.

Washrooms are also located in the lower hall.

If you wish to have a cushion or hard of hearing headset, please speak to one of the ushers who will be happy to obtain these items for you.

We invite you to complete one of the blue Visitor Cards in the pew rack and place it in the offering plate toward the end of the worship service. This will help us get to know you better!

Please silence cell phones and other electronics. Speak softly, move slowly and allow each one present to listen for God’s voice.

Many people have allergies to fragrances and perfumes, so we try to keep our church a scent-free zone in consideration of the health and wellbeing of others! Thank you!

Should you wish to have someone pray with or for you, today’s Deacon-on-Duty will be pleased to meet with you following the worship service. Please come to the front, west side pew.

Perhaps this prayer may help you begin your preparation today: “Almighty and everlasting God, in the Easter mystery, You established the new covenant of reconciliation: may all who have

been born again into the fellowship of Christ’s Body show in their

lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our

Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.”

SPRING CAMPAIGN 2015: Build the Building Fund! The annual Spring Financial Campaign this year seeks to replenish our church’s building fund, which is used for major renovations and repairs. The Trustees (i.e. Deacons and Treasurer together) have decided the first call on the fund will be for a much needed upgrade to our sanctuary sound system.(A study of our current system and needs was conducted by a Media Review Committee, chaired by Kevin Rich, working with B Sharp Music). The overall goal is $30,000.00, and the campaign will run from April 12 to June 15. If you wish to contribute, please make a cheque out to First Baptist Church, with a note “Building Fund” in the memo line!

CANADIAN BAPTIST MINISTRY NEWS

KENYA: CBM’s Africa Team Leaders, Aaron and Erica Kenny, ask

that we join them in praying for the community of Garissa. “The

Easter week massacre of students at Garissa University College

has led to wide spread fear and anger. Pray for God’s comfort and

healing for the families of the victims, including 11 families from

our partner churches who lost children. Pray for the 30 local

churches of Garissa, including their pastors, as they seek to

comfort the mourning and build peace and understanding with

their neighbours. May God sustain their witness through these

difficult times.” Despite the ongoing challenge of high insecurity in

this area, God is at work bringing about hope and transformation.

Pray for the good work that continues such as the food security

programme, mobile medical clinic, and other ministry serving

Muslim majority communities.

LEBANON: We celebrate a special commissioning to be held this

weekend by the South Central Association (Guelph, Ontario) for

Emad and Almess Botros, CBM’s newest field staff. Please pray for

more committed Partners in Mission and the necessary funds to

be raised. They hope to leave this summer to begin ministry in

Lebanon.

NIGERIA: April 14 is a sad anniversary. It marks one year since

over 200 school girls were abducted in the north of Nigeria. We

continue to pray for God’s intervention to bring these girls home.

Pray also for God’s comfort and encouragement for the families,

and for the abducted girls.

CANADA: Pray for the many missing Aboriginal and Metis women

and their families who do not know what has happened to them.

TNT this week is an “order-in” Vietnamese dinner. Cost is $10.00 per person. If you wish to attend you MUST call Hilary Ryan by NO LATER than Monday, April 20th!
