Eagle Radio first turned up the mic fader on the 4th of January 1996 with dulcet tones of Billy Joel Uptown girl and has been part of Surrey and Hampshire life ever

since! Eagle Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from our studios in Guildford talking to all the major towns including Woking, Aldershot, Farnham, Haslemere, Farnborough, Camberley and Fleet, and everywhere in between. And now with the larger DAB transmitter we also cover Dorking, Chertsey, Epsom, Leatherhead, Alton and Weybridge and beyond. We are the radio choice for 51% of our FM target market Listeners tune in for our mix of music, local and national news and sports coverage. As well as chances to win, entertaining celebrity interviews and the all-important traffic and travel reports.

Our mix of programming and music attracts a wide demographic of listener, but we primarily aim at the family audience of 25 - 54 year olds, who are quite

literally listening anywhere and everywhere! We remain the number one commercial radio station in Surrey and Hampshire, and thus the number one media platform in our area. We are proud to play a big part in the community. Plus, unlike many other radio stations, we remain 100% local with no programming networked from other parts of the country. Our website allows us to enhance and support what we do as a radio station both on air and out in the community. It gives listeners a reference point for what we talk about and a place where they can interact with us and with your company.

With a monthly average of 80,000 visits to the site, each spending an average of 32 minutes on there, you can see how popular it is. In the last year we have had over 4 million page views showing people in Surrey and Hampshire really value what we do online.

We live in a digital world, and our website allows us to go beyond what a radio station would traditionally. This means our advertisers can target and reach customers in new ways.

Vouchers and discounts are a big part of our modern society. The Eagle Radio Half price voucher shop and download deals have gone from strength over the past few years, giving businesses a chance to bring in new business and increase repeat business too. Eagle Radio’s

Education Team

In the past year Eagle Radio’s Education Team has worked with children from over 100 school groups, youth centres and charities running a range of exciting radio workshops, making content for Eagle’s “Education Station” Eagle Extra.

Children and young people of all ages and abilities are always excited to meet the Eagle Radio team, whether we’re visiting a school with some state-of-the-art mobile recording equipment or hosting cohorts in our studios and teaching rooms in central Guildford. In anything from a two-hour workshop to a twelve-week course, our dynamic team of Broadcast Tutors guide groups of children and young people through memorable activities like DJing or creating their own radio shows, news reports, adverts or radio dramas. After a bit of professional production from the Eagle Radio team, these recordings are then broadcast on Eagle Extra for friends, family, and the wider community to hear. Eagle Extra also keep podcasts of school shows online for them to download, listen back, and keep as a valuable memento of their great experience.

Broadcasting for Schools

Eagle Radio’s school courses and workshops are flexible formats for schools to use the impactful medium of radio to engage students with a curriculum or school issue. By creating either their own weekly show or a long-term project for broadcast on Eagle Extra, students learn to draw upon radio elements such as journalism, review, drama, interviewing, quiz shows and reporting to develop communication skills and build confidence whilst learning a

subject in an innovative and memorable way.

Examples of courses run have included primary schools creating news stories and fictional interviews from the Tudor times, secondary schools enacting an Of Mice and Men radio drama, or specialist schools reporting on school activity.

Radio Rockz

When schools are closed, Eagle Radio opens its doors to the pupils of Surrey and Hampshire to run a range of fun activities that we call “Radio Rockz”. These provide parents with much needed child care during the school holidays but in a fun way that children are always excited for.

Activities differ slightly from those delivered to schools as the focus shifts away from the curriculum. Activities like DJing and MCing draw in crowds while workshops like creating radio adverts for local events and businesses give children an insight into the broadcast industry.

Days are typically offered for children aged 7 – 16, with a bespoke provision for children with special needs.

While demand grows from parents and teachers alike, the Education Team are also commissioned on larger projects such as safe social media use in schools with the Crime Commissioner for Surrey, crime prevention initiatives with Surrey Police, and youth engagement projects with Surrey County Council. In this range of work we’re proud to say the Education Team continue to help Eagle Radio to change lives in Surrey and Hampshire in a fun and unconventional way.

Eagle Radio has a high profile across Surrey and Hampshire and we regularly take our own brand of fun on the road.

We’re not one of those radio stations that confines itself to its studios.

Throughout the year, we’re always appearing at a huge range of events – everything from fireworks to fetes. We often provide a central focus to events, organising live music and of course providing vital publicity for the organisers.

Our presence at events can range from booking our Love Crew to hand out goodie-bags and stickers, sometimes joined by Eggbert the Eagle, to backstage interviews at local music festivals.

Outside Broadcasts

We can even broadcast live from different locations across the area at specific events, whether it’s providing a few live inserts into our shows, or even staging full outside broadcasts for an entire programme.

Plus of course, our news team is out every single day, covering the latest local stories from across Surrey and Hampshire.
