20th Sunday in Ordinary Time In pursuit of her son’s salvation, Monica prayed and prayed until her prayers were finally answered and Augustine converted to Christianity. Her persever-ance and determination paid off and not only did Augustine convert, but he went on to be one of the great thinkers and writers of the faith. Sin and failure have a way of robbing us of life, deadening our spirit, and depressing our mind. It is so easy to lose hope and believe that there is noth-ing left, not even God. We cannot give up on each other. When someone is unable to pray for himself, we must pray for him. When someone is too weak to stand on her own, we must support her. When someone is too tired to continue the journey, we must walk with him. It is the way of faith. Along the way, we all need help, grace and strength. If we truly are disciples of Christ, we share with others the gifts He has given us. We help each other as members of one Body, one family, and one people. We cannot give up on ourselves or on each other. So pray, work, plead, offer, and teach. But don’t quit. Patience and perseverance are the channels of grace and life. That is God’s promise to us. ~James Gaffney, © 2008 Karides Lic. to St. George Pub-
lishing [email protected]

20TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME AUGUST 16, 2020
THE VISITATION COLLABORATIVE
Mass is now being livestreamed from St. Elizabeth Church at the following times:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am Saturday 4pm Sunday 9:15am
Watch it here: www.visitationmilton.org/live-stream
An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated
from You. Amen.
Dear Parishioners of Visitation Collaborative, We wish to thank you most sincerely for your efforts on our behalf, collecting and organizing such won-derful donations for our mothers and their babies. You have shown such generous hearts and we are very touched by the volume of donations you deliv-ered. The cases of diapers, wipes, baby clothing, ba-by baths and the toiletries you collected for our mothers and babies here in our shelter home is such a blessing! Your support makes a difference in so many lives. It allows us to meet many of our resi-dents' needs, both physically and mentally. God is working among his people during this time of unprecedented worldly fear. We pray that God mul-tiplies His graces and blessings to you and those you love. In His Name, Joan Bailey, Executive Director
“Sweetest Jesus, Body and Blood
most Holy, be the delight and pleasure of my soul, my strength and salvation in all temptations, my joy and peace in every trial, my light and guide in every word and deed, and my final
protection in death. Amen.” St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic families can draw closer together by attending Mass as a family as much as possible during the Year of the Eucharist.
By receiving the Blessed Body of Christ together on a regular basis, as a family, the members of that family have the opportuni-
ty to strengthen their love for each other through the presence of our Lord in the cel-
ebration of the Holy Eucharist.

St. Mary of the Hills Perpetual Candle
Light a candle in memory/honor of someone or for a particular intention. They are a great way of inviting others to pray for your intention and to let others know that they are being prayed for here at St. Mary of the Hills. Another way to use these candles is to have one lit in honor of a recently deceased family member or friend instead of sending flowers. The parish would send out a card letting the family know that their loved one is being re-membered with our candle here at the church.
St. Mary of the Hills Perpetual Candles In memory of: Ellen Carlson and Angel Langlais For healing: Jim Kackley and Benicio Gobourne In honor of: Gloria Finnegan, The Ciampa Family Please remember them in your prayers. To memorialize or honor your own loved ones, there are forms at the candle stand or contact us in the office. Thank you.
The Sanctuary Light for the month of August shines in
loving memory of Andrew D. Hamilton And Mark G.
Hamilton from their family.
The Altar breads and wine this weekend were donated in loving memory of Andrew D. Hamil-
ton from his family

Visitation Prayer
O Virgin of the Visitation, compelled by the Holy Spir-it, and with Jesus hidden beneath your Heart, you
arose in those days and, with haste, went to your kins-woman Elizabeth, to serve her in her time of need. Elizabeth acknowledged your faith, and a new song
came to flower on Your lips; thus did you magnify the Father whose mercy is from generation to generation.
Visit us now, O Mother of Our Lord, and obtain for us a quickening of prophetic grace, that we may serve our
brothers and sisters in faithfully loving the Church, and love the Church in humbly serving each other, and
so, under your gracious protection, again and again repeat your words: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the
Lord; be it done unto me according to your word.” O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
