Lesa believes that teaching is a lifetime journey of striving to make an impact on the future, “an ever changing season of learning curves, discoveries, and awareness of strengths and weaknesses in others and ourselves.” She is involved in Forsyth County Special Olympics, having served as the event coordinator, and is passionate about what the games have to offer special needs individuals and the community. Lesa firmly believes in the Special Olympic motto, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

guarantee that students learn. She understands that students bring with them a diverse set of values, experiences, abilities and knowledge. Because of this diversity, Aly makes it her duty is to create life-long learners and prob-lem-solvers, allowing her students the opportunity to excel far beyond the constraints of a classroom.

English/yearbook and creative writing.
She shares that “every day I’m afforded the precious opportunity to provide direction for my students, and I want to use literature and writing to guide them to self-awareness that leads to wise decisions for their future. I want to be like Cat from Alice in Wonderland who challenges them to think about destination. AP Classes? College? Career? Family? Once students can articulate their goals, it’s easier for them to imagine putting in the work to achieve them, and in the end, our class becomes the vehicle that can take them to their personal and academic destinations.”

2010-11 has been an outstanding year for the Partners in Education (P.I.E.) program, with over 600 active partners working with 35 schools and various district departments. P.I.E. provide over $1.5 million in funding, thousands of volunteer hours and countless in-kind services to improve student achievement in all subject areas, enrich students’ life experiences, help grow career opportunities, and boost educator support and morale. Forsyth County Schools could not be successful without our partners, especially during these challenging financial times.
The Don Hendricks Partnership Award is the highest honor that a P.I.E. can receive. The Hendricks family es-tablished this award in 2002 after the passing of their father, a long-time member of the Board of Education. Mr. Hendricks lived a life of service to the community, and like those who have received this award, he believed in Forsyth County Schools and its mission for quality work and superior performance for all.
The Don Hendricks Partnership Award is given to the partner who best exemplifies the mission of the P.I.E. program and demonstrates loyalty to the school system and to the community. Past recipients include:
Natalie received her Bachelor of Science degree in English education from the University of Georgia. She began her teaching career with Forsyth County Schools in 2005 at South Forsyth High where she taught English/yearbook. Natalie joined Lambert High when it opened in 2009, and teaches
