Wear Red is a day to set aside the usual office

mundanity and have a little fun! It’s our most

anticipated annual event and we want you to help

us make Wear Red 2018 bigger and better. You’ll

also have the opportunity to enter our exciting

competitions as well as going head-to-head with

companies worldwide to win one of our coveted

Wear Red prizes!

Now that you’ve signed up, get international! We

want offices from all over the world to join us for

this day of fundraising, so talk to other offices in

your company and get them to contact us – last

year we had over 60 offices and 30 organisations

take part globally, from the USA to South Korea to

sunny Croydon! Together they fundraised over

£25,000 for RedR’s humanitarian work.

Every year millions of people around the world are affected by natural and man-made disasters. RedR trains thousands of people each year in order to develop practical, life-saving skills. This knowledge allows communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from both natural disasters and conflict. Last year RedR trained over 7,400 people in 55 countries, training which will be used and shared and ultimately help thousands more in the RedR ripple effect.By choosing to take part in Wear Red 2018 you, along with RedR supporters across the world, will be raising valuable funds helping us continue delivering knowledge and expertise to aid workers around the world.

With the support and generosity of supporters like you, we’ve been able to train people like Min Htut who attended our Humanitarian Essentials and Managing Projects in Emergencies in Myanmar:

“Since the training we’ve got better at coordinating and sharing information within our teams and across departments… As a result we are able to provide assistance at the right time and in the right place and this makes us more effective”

FUNDRAISING IDEASKeep it simple with some of these fundraising ideas:

1. GO RED FOR REDR Ask your colleagues to contribute £2 to ‘go red’ for the day by wearing a red item of clothing or red accessories, be it scarlet scarves, burgundy berets, or crimson camouflage. You could even consider dressing up as someone else and live vicariously as Super Mario, Elmo, or Sideshow Bob for the day!

2. REDDY STEADY BAKE!Wear Red wouldn’t be the same without a cake sale. This is perfect for all you budding bakers or first-timers who want to try out their new-found culinary skills. Simply prepare some tasty treats, decorate in red and sell, sell, sell! If baking isn’t your thing then try selling savoury dishes from around the world!

3. QUIZ! Hold your own office quiz; teams pay an entry fee to join the fun and showcase their general or specialist knowledge.

Wear Red really is your event! If you have a great idea then run with it- there are no limits on what you should do! So go for it and do something out of ordinary for a day- whether it’s holding a chilli growing or table tennis competition, a raffle or an exercise class!

SETTING UP YOUR ONLINE FUNDRAISING PAGE ■ Go to www.justgiving.com and follow the steps as instructed. If you get into a spot of bother,

please don’t hesitate to get in touch. ■ Create just ONE page per organisation and ask all other offices to use it. This will eliminate

admin stress and allow you to track how your organisation is doing. ■ Personalise your page with information about your event and photos of your team. And then

share your page with everyone in the office by email and/or social media platforms. ■ Setting a fundraising target will encourage your colleagues to donate more! ■ Your fundraising page is hassle free; your donations will be transferred to us automatically

and Gift Aid claims processed.

GIFT AID ITAs a registered UK charity, RedR can claim an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue for every £1 received as a donation. For example, your gift of £10 can be turned into a gift of £12.50.

The best way to do this is to set up an online fundraising page, any supporters who would like to add Gift Aid to their donation can do so online, and everything else will be taken care of automatically. If you are planning to do a lot of offline fundraising, please contact us for Gift Aid declaration forms.

Please note, we are unable to claim Gift Aid from raffles as this is considered to be paying for goods. Gift Aid can only be claimed on an unrestricted donation.

MATCHED FUNDINGSome organisations offer to match funds you raise as a charitable contribution. It’s worth checking whether your organisation has a matched funding scheme in place as this will be an added bonus for your fundraising, as well as contribution to RedR.

LEGAL POINTS ■ If your fundraising involves collecting money or selling goods in a public place, you will need

to obtain permission and a license from your local authority. ■ If your event is taking place on private property, you must obtain permission from the owner. ■ Please do not collect money door-to-door, this is illegal without a license! ■ Raffles are fine as long as they do not contain cash prizes and are part of a larger fundraising

event. Other raffles may be considered unlawful, so please check with us before holding these.

■ RedR cannot accept liability in response to loss, damage or injury suffered by any person as a result of any activity undertaken for RedR.
