On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am happy to welcome you to the Functional Textiles and Clothing Conference being organized at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi from 9th - 12th of February, 2018 at New Delhi India.

With more than 250 abstracts from 90 universities representing 22 countries, the conference will provide a global platform for the exchange of ideas in the field of Functional clothing & textiles. We are happy to welcome leading academics, scientists, & students from across the world to present their research findings & emerging technologies and directions. The Textile & Fashion product Innovation contest has attracted a large number of entries from students & we expect to see some interesting products on display.

For the first time in India, all stakeholders in the textile & clothing supply chain will be present at a common platform to share ideas in the domain of interest. Each day of the conference will begin with thematic keynote speeches to be delivered by renowned international experts from academia & industry on topics ranging from protective & medical textiles and clothing, wearable electronics, surface functionalization and dyeing, fashion design, garment fit & sizing, sustainability, entrepreneurship, supply chain management, machinery, traditional textiles & textile education.

The Department of Textile Technology at IIT Delhiis one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges o�ering Textile Education in India. It has the distinction of being the only Textile Department in the IIT system and hence has a leadership role. Teaching & research activities in the department focus on niche and futuristic areas including new manufacturing technologies, Smart textiles, Nanotechnology, eco friendly processing and Biotextiles. Engineering of functional apparel such as medical clothing, pressure garments, extreme cold weather clothing and bullet proof vests are important areas of current research.
