“Jesus, the bread of life’ Once again Jesus the Teacher is having a hard time getting through to his listeners. They resist his teaching that he is the living bread from heaven. When they continue to object, Jesus assures them that his flesh is real food and his blood is real drink. If they do not "feed on" him, they will have no life in them. We are blessed because we can share the Living Bread at every Eucharist. As we satisfy our spiritual hunger, we remember those who hunger for food, shelter, friendship, or faith. We consider how we can respond to the hungers of the world. Meditation: When we think of you, Lord, we do not recall events that took place and were fulfilled long ago, but we come into contact with your reality ever present and alive, we see your constant passage among us. You intervene in our life to restore our likeness to you, so that we may not be disfigured by the stones of the law, but may find our fullest expression in your face as Father, revealed in the face of a man, Jesus, the promise of fidelity and love even unto death. It is not necessary at all to go out of ordinary existence so as to meet you because the care you take of your creatures unfolds over our human affairs like a scroll in the proximity of an experience. You, Creator of heaven and earth, indeed do hide in the folds of history and, even though at first obscurely and implicitly, you allow us to meet you in your transcendence, which is never absent from ordinary events. When our reflection on life brings us to an acknowledgement of your liberating presence, this meeting can only be celebrated, sung, expressed by sacred symbols, relived festively in great joy. Thus we do not come to you alone, but as a people of the covenant. The wonder of your presence is always purely gratuitous: in the members of the Church, where two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, in the pages of Sacred Scripture, in evangelical preaching, in the poor and suffering, in the sacramental actions of ordained ministers. But it is in the eucharistic sacrifice that your presence becomes real; in the Body and Blood there is the whole of the humanity and divinity of the risen Lord, present substantially.

“ Jesús, el Pan de vida” Una vez más, Jesús, el maestro, tiene dificultad para darse a en-tender por sus interlocutores. Ellos se resisten a sus enseñanzas de que él es el pan de vida bajado del cielo. Jesús les asegura, cuando siguen protestando, que su carne es verdadera comida y su sangre verdadera bebida. Si ellos no comen de él no tendrán vida en ellos. Somos bendecidos por poder compartir el Pan de Vida en cada Eucaristía. Al satisfacer nuestra hambre espiritual recordamos a los que tienen hambre de comida, de alojamiento, de fe, de amistad. Considera como podemos responder al hambre en el mundo. Meditación: Cuando nosotros te pensamos, Señor, no recordamos hechos acaecidos y cumplidos en el tiempo, sino que entramos en contacto con tu realidad siempre presente y viva, vemos tu continuo pasar entre nosotros. Tú intervienes en nuestra vida para restituirnos la semejanza de la pertenencia, para que no se seque más entre las piedras de la ley nuestro rostro, sino que encuentre su máxima expresión en el rostro del Padre, revelado en el rostro del hombre, Jesús, promesa de fidelidad y amor consumado. Tu, Creador del cielo y de la tierra, te escon-des en los pliegues de la historia y aunque oscuro e implícito, te dejas encontrar en aquella trascendencia que no desaparece con los sucesos. El prodigio de tu presencia se realiza por pura gratuidad siempre: en los miembros de la Iglesia, allí donde dos o tres se reúnen en el nombre de Jesús, en las páginas de la Escritura, en la predicación evangélica, en los pobres y enfermos, en las acciones sacramentales de los ministros ordenados. Pero es en el sacrificio eucarístico cuando la presencia es totalmente real: en el Cuerpo y Sangre está toda la humanidad y la divinidad del Señor resucitado, presencia substancial. 3
