On Memorial Day

It is difficult to pause to remember those who

have lived at the Gardens, but are now no longer

living, without stirring up emotions of sadness and

worries about our own declining health. Maybe a date

of remembrance is also encouraging for seniors when

they know they too will not be forgotten. Every senior

who ever sat in our dining room, and strolled down

the halls, and worshipped in our chapel, and yelled

“BINGO!” in our activity room, has left a lasting

impression on the lives who live or serve at The

Gardens at Calvary.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration

Day in the south and began as a day to decorate the

graves of those who had fallen in war. It later became a

day for families to travel to visit the old home-church

cemetery to decorate the graves of ancestors and

honor their memory.

This year The Gardens at Calvary will place a

carnation on each table with the name of a senior who

died since last Memorial Day. Twenty-seven beloved

seniors will be remembered. Together we will allow

our lives to be touched by them again. Together we

will say a prayer of thanks for them. Together we will

remember on Memorial Day.

2nd Mile Service Award

Congratulations to our May winner, VaNessa Green!

Motivated by the love of Jesus, VaNessa truly deserves the honor of our 2nd Mile Award. She has strong values and work ethics. As she collaborates with those around her, she creates loving, caring, and genuine relationships. As Matthew 5:41 reads, “Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with them two”, VaNessa is always going that second mile and beyond. VaNessa is a blessing to all in our home here at The Gardens at Calvary. We treasure the wonderful moments shared with her as sweet memories are made. As she has blessed us we pray that God will continue to abundantly bless her. As a token of our appreciation for

VaNessa, she has earned a day off in May and a special parking spot.

Please submit your nominations to Jennifer Little (Office Manager). Nomination cards can be found in common

areas on all floors and on the bulletin board outside the Private Dining Room. Check out our NEW website:
