The Preliminary Task This preliminary task was a long time ago when we hadn't got a clue what we was doing with the camera and this shows from the variation of shots use from out preliminary task to our finished opening sequence.

For our preliminary task we made a number of mistakes and the first one was when filming we didn't use a tripod as you can see a lot of shaking done from the camera man whilst filming as Tom doesn't’t have the steadiest hands. The editing had many jumps due to the fact that we hadn’t use the software before and wasn’t use to using it as it was a quick job and didn't’t have time to get use to it. Compared to our preliminary task out opening sequence was very smooth and look the professional piece but we had a big issue with sound which took time to sort out.

Preliminary Task We had some other problems with the lighting in some of the clips for example over my shoulder as you could really see Jacob, but he was acting to the best of his ability. But we did keep to the 180-degree rule throughout our preliminary task. Also Jacob wasn’t the best of actors, this was probably down to no amount of experience on the job and was just put on the spot. But this is a major fact of opening sequence which needed fixing for the opening sequence. As you can see how bad the lighting was in the picture.

Opening sequenceYou could tell that we had done our research when you compare the preliminary task to our final product, as our final product ran smoothly and had a wide range of shot and the acting skills were a lot better. Also you could tell the difference from the camera we film in HD to the poor IPhone camera, you could also tell the difference in the sound quality in the clip as you could actually hear what I was saying in the final product compared to the preliminary task wear you could hardly hear what we was saying.

The only mistake that came up in our final product was the typo in the credits, we also had some glitches where I walked around the corner twice but it didn’t affect anything so we left it be.

Opening Sequence The only thing we failed to improve on from our preliminary task was the acting throughout the sequence. The two actors were, myself and Jacob which when we receive audience feedback via, Facebook and YouTube people made the point that Jacob could of got more into character and made the sequence more effective.

But we managed to stick to the 180 degree rule and match on action and this allowed up to make an effective opening sequence which followed the rules.

Comparing Shots These are two shot of Jacob in both the preliminary task and our final product, as you can see in the picture that he look directly at the camera and the other picture he is walking with his arms out which some people thought that was unrealistic. But you can tell between the acting qualities between the two clips.

The Differences between tasksThe difference between the two tasks• Better assigned group roles• Better equipment and software (e.g camera, tripod, editing program)• Basic rules abided by (looking at camera lenses, the 180 degree rule)• Removal of unnecessary editing blips such as pauses and static background noise.

But the bad acting from Jacob was taken through to the preliminary task which is something we should of changed. But we stuck with the important rules to make it look effective.

What We Have Learnt Throughout this project I have learnt different techniques that have helped us make a good quality HD opening sequence compared to our poor quality preliminary task. Also learnt different skills like camera work, postproduction, editing and special effect. Also making our own blog as I have never used a log before. All these skill were put together as a group to make an affective opening sequence.
