his contemporaries back to a

Wednesday, December 13 at 7pm in SSPP Notre Dame Hall as we discuss that
question. Chris Tardio is our Catechist for the evening, leading our discussion on
Vocations and God’s Universal Call to Holiness.
GOSPEL WEEKLIES
THIS SUNDAY’S GOSPEL: Mark 1:1–8 In Sunday’s Gospel, John the Baptist urges people to prepare a smooth, straight road on which God can come to us. Isaiah’s words of comfort to the exiled Israelites assure them and us that we can count on God’s forgiveness. Jesus’ words call for us to turn our lives around and make sure that we have an open path for God to enter our hearts.
EXPLORING THE GOSPEL: John the Baptist told people to prepare for the coming of the Lord. Talk about the ways your family is preparing for Christmas. Are you thinking and praying about the birth of Jesus, or are you thinking about toys and gifts?
Talk about the way your family approaches giving gifts at Christmastime. Think of ways you can give of yourself to the people you give presents PRAY TOGETHER :To celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Tuesday, December 12), add praying the Hail Mary to your Advent wreath prayer this week. You may even want to place a statue or picture of Mary near your wreath.

Last Saturday 4 teams of Confirmation students descended upon Reading neighborhoods to rake leaves. The idea is to rake as many yards as they can find in 2 hours! This year our teams raked a total of 37 yards!
That’s 37 families whose lives our Confirmation students touched by just giving a couple hours of their time on a Saturday morning! Thank you, and thanks to the parents who drove the teams and helped out!

OUTREACH
A message from the Fr. Brotzge Council Knights of Columbus at OLSH. Our Faith is our gift to share and what better way to share this Faith than to remind others to Keep Christ in Christmas. As the Christmas Holiday approaches, it is our responsibility to remind our families and others why we celebrate Christmas. What a GREAT gift God has given us in Jesus Christ and the Holy Family. We should joyfully share this gift with others. This message has been handed down for two thousand years and is as relevant today as ever. Unfortunately, society has drowned out this message with one of commercialization. Christ is being suppressed. Unless we persevere, our children may grow up missing the impact of the true message. It is our duty as Christians, as Catholics, to stand firm and hold the line; Keep Christ in Christmas. It’s more than OK to say “Merry Christmas”. It’s OK to have religious yard signs. It’s OK to wear Catholic or Christian symbols. Don’t hide your Christian beliefs. Display and wear them proudly. Share your faith. Promote Catholicism. Merry Christmas!
