HOW WE DID IT!A new eight-page newsletter every hour of GITEX? They said it was impossible but this is the fourth time we’ve managed it! Thanks to all at CPI who helped and supported us. Here are the stages…
PlanningCPI founder Dom, together with Nadeem and Richard plot our basic strategy for the show, which includes a repeat of 60 Minutes. Well before GITEX, discussions begin on logistics, finding a print partner and working out responsibilities for the operation.
Selling
Raj, Chris and Merle all discuss with their clients why they should advertise in 60 Minutes. They also offer help in co-ordinating content, setting up interviews for editors and pitching in whenever possible to make the project a reality. Thanks for the pizzas, Raj!
EditingCo-ordinating the content on the ground is Dave, uncertain if this is his 22nd or 23rd GITEX! Together with Sathya, Jeevan, Arun, Pallavi, Supriya, Anu and Mike, he makes sure stories fit, chases for material that needs to be there and oversees the whole process on the stand.
Designing
Roxy heads up the design team on the stand - Analou, Froilan and Glen for print, Eric and Jeff for Web. For the print newsletter, designers take charge of a complete issue, working with staff photographers Cris and Jay for the right images and checking ads are in place.

PrintingA full team from GIT (German Imaging Technologies) are in charge of the entire printing setup, delivering over 250,000 A3 4-colour sheets over the week, according to Dr Sassan who looks out for his team. Actual printing co-ordination is handled by Gerald, whilst Manoj, Frederico, Gerry and Genard check the printers, consumables and folding machines. Twelve to fifteen toner cartridges are replaced daily.
DistributingRajeesh, James and Marilyn then take charge of the issues when they are printed and with a team specially hired for GITEX, distribute copies to over 150 stands throughout the whole exhibition space, as well as five dedicated distribution booths and CPI stands. They also refresh copies of CPI’s other magazines.
And finally, we all owe a debt to Troy who kept machines working, staff motivated and supplied with water, plus jumped immediately on any problem during the week
