Visa...in cyber-attacks, and in-depth forensic analysis from recent data breaches.

Mark Nelsen, Senior Vice President of Risk Products and Business Intelligence, Visa Inc. said “Visa Threat Intelligence removes the noise by assessing hundreds of threat indicators and serving-up the most important and timely information. Users can then isolate and address those threats that are the most pressing and potentially damaging to their business and customers.”

More sophisticated users can also take advantage of APIs that can automatically feed threat indicator data into their own security systems. A premium offering will grant access to advanced tools, powered by FireEye virtual execution engine

(MVX™) technology, that analyse and isolate malicious indicators from malware to identify suspicious activity from IP addresses and domains.

In addition, Visa Threat Intelligence will provide a secure platform where clients can opt to form trusted communities and safely exchange real-time threat intelligence. Leveraging community-based intelligence is crucial to a comprehensive defense strategy because many attack groups run campaigns that target organisations with a similar profile.

“Attack groups are exceptionally skilled at executing an attack across multiple organisations, identifying successful techniques and scaling those methods to an entire industry,” said Grady Summers, Chief Technology Officer, FireEye, Inc. “By partnering with Visa, we can provide targeted

intelligence to the payments industry to combat the economies of scale that attackers employ and help create a community united in a common defense.”

As noted in the latest FireEye M-Trends report, the payments industry continues to be an attractive target for cyber criminals as attackers find new ways to steal credit card numbers from point-of-sale (POS) systems. Through this global strategic relationship, Visa and FireEye are looking at new ways to empower merchants, issuers, and other payments players with the best technology, intelligence and expertise to protect their organisations. In early 2016, the partnership is expected to roll out additional solutions to identify malicious communications and recommend remediation steps based on activity in the network as well as infection rates across the network.

months, Mansour said, “That’s an easy answer. The IoT is especially important. We’re seeing an explosion of technology that we hadn’t seen before, whether we’re talking PC or cloud, the number of IoT devices will outnumber the amount of PCs, phones, tablets and wearables combined by the year 2020. It really is a revolution that’s happening in front of us and we’re seeing demand on the device side for IoT. We’re seeing a demand for harnessing all the new data that’s coming in from the power of cloud and analytics.

“I don’t think GITEX has changed per se, but I do think that the theme has always resonated with our participants but also evolved on the technology side. GITEX is a hub for many partners of DWTC to showcase their innovations, and we’re a big part of that.”

At a press roundtable at today moderated by IDC’s IoT Research Lead for MEA, Cisco and GBM outlined the vital key steps that organisations in the Middle East will need to implement in order to become fully digital to embrace the Internet of Things (IoT) era.

Cisco’s Country Digitisation Acceleration (CDA) strategy is a long-term commitment to a partnership with national leadership, industry and academia to deliver real outcomes faster and more effectively. It aims to accelerate the national digitisation agenda to grow GDP, create new jobs and invest in a sustainable innovation ecosystem across public and private sectors.

At the core of the strategy are 5 key components for successful digitalisation:

Education: Creating a better educated workforce, in the latest

technologies and practices such as the Internet of Everything, capable of driving digital transformation. Today our Networking Academy program in the Middle East region boasts 684 networking academies and 65,785 students. The Middle East region has the highest percentage of female Networking Academy students: 32 percent, compared to 19 percent globally. Saudi Arabia has the highest concentration of students in the Middle East with 17,142, 37 percent of whom are female. The highest percentage of female students is in Oman (57 percent) and UAE (56 percent).

Encouraging entrepreneurship: Cisco will work with internal, national and international venture capital entities to provide multi-stage funding for global technologies. The company has already announced a $6 million investment in the Baida Impact

Fund in Jordan to support early stage online and mobile innovation, healthcare technologies and services, e-commerce, consumer Internet and digital media services in Jordan.

Facilitating Innovation Cisco holds 19,000 patents, 7,000 of which are for software innovation. 25,000 engineers, $6.3 billion R&D .

Public and Private Partnerships Through the Cisco Country

Digitisation Acceleration partnership, new and established businesses will gain access and export opportunities to markets worldwide through Cisco’s global distribution channels.

Infrastructure:Build an infrastructure that gives citisens access to the finest healthcare, city services, education, entertainment and many other areas – all in a highly secure environment. Today, Cisco is involved in over Smart City/ IoT/IoE projects worldwide

With security issues surrounding the Internet now the number 1 priority in the digital era, more and more organisations in the Middle East are increasingly seeing the value of adopting an end to end security approach that is as pervasive as the Internet of Everything (IoE) itself. Cybersecurity solutions need to protect not just

networks and devices, but also critical applications and data. Identity-based user and device authentication is critical to securing applications and data across mobile and cloud deployments.

Security is an important discussion within organisations and government bodies. While those discussions continue to evolve, it is important to note that threats to smarter and efficient operations exist right now. In the fourth edition of the GBM Annual Security Study, they focus on regional executives’ awareness and readiness to address these security challenges.

GBM’s Annual Security Study polled 500 IT professionals based in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait. One key outcome of the survey is that there is a lack of awareness of the laws and regulations related to cyber security in GCC respondents’ respective countries - 80 per cent of respondents were not aware of the cyber protection laws in their own country, Additionally, the survey has shown that security breaches in the GCC are on the rise, with one in five participants being aware of a privacy violation in the past 12 months, yet behavior has changed little in light of increased breaches.

The survey also highlighted that while 80 per cent of executives said they use their personal mobile for work and personal use, less than 10 per cent use appropriate security measures. Meanwhile, 50 per cent of respondents use only one type of security measure to access data on their mobile devices, generally a password or PIN.

At GITEX this week, Netscout Systems, a market leader in service assurance and cyber security solutions, is introducing—for the first time under the NETSCOUT brand—several products that were part of the company’s acquisition of Danaher Corporation’s Communications Business earlier this year for $2.3 billion. At GITEX, NETSCOUT is highlighting industry-leading solutions that enable its customers in the region to realise the maximum value from their investment in networking technologies.

“NETSCOUT views the Middle East as a new and strategic market for us. As a result of the acquisition, we are better positioned in high-growth markets like the Middle East to offer a broad portfolio of best-in-class solutions,” commented Jim McNiel, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing for

NETSCOUT. “Given the region’s focus on Smart Cities and other technology initiatives that will make the Connected World more of a reality, it’s only natural for NETSCOUT to take a prominent role at GITEX and use this very important event to launch our expanded solution set.”

Ensuring flawless service delivery across wired and wireless networks is increasingly becoming more complex and fraught with risk for enterprises worldwide. Traditional performance monitoring tools simply can’t provide a holistic view of the entire network, and therefore can’t equip IT with the insight needed to deliver an optimal end-user experience.

NETSCOUT solutions enable continuous monitoring and real-time analysis, allowing organisations to eliminate finger pointing and reduce the time needed to find the root cause of

networks performance issues, thereby helping IT teams ensure the best possible experience

“As part of NETSCOUT, Fluke Networks Enterprise Solutions can offer its global partners and customers an enhanced level of services to help them grow their business. We can now tap into a broader set of products and industry expertise to better tailor our IT solutions to meet stringent customer demands,” added Gary Staley, vice president of Global Sales for Fluke Networks Enterprise Solutions, a business unit of NETSCOUT.

In the Middle East, the post-acquisition NETSCOUT is now better able to offer service providers, enterprises and public sector agencies the intelligence and analytics needed to maximise the benefits of powerful technology advances such as IP convergence, virtualisation, cloud computing, mobility, bring
