The athletic program tor the month showed gradual diminiahaent. It was strong in volley ball, sort ball, horeeshoes and boxing up until about the time the battalion aade its tirst move. There-after, a decline in athletic activity waa necessitated by the lack ot space ~~d time.

However, as the dey progressed the humidity combined with en increasing temperature to produce another hot summer dey. The 1st battalion, less 11 B11 company which wes still under the operational control ot the lAt bette-lion, 11th Marines found itself still in division reserve et In.1e. North Kores. At 0830~ on 9 August, the 1-3 officer and the company cemaanders departed tor tiring ranges #15-#21 where they obeerved a battalion size landing problem oonduoted by the 3rd battalion, 5th marines. They returned 'to th& battalion O.P. at 1130·. During the day. the battalion carried out the battalion training schedule. The S~l eeot1on reported that during tne afternoon, 2 oorpmen were transferred trom thie organization to regiment. The supply eeot1on received 13 inflatable rubber mattreeeee trom regiment-al supply and the motor transport section had 2 Jeeps returned from field maintenanoe.
