Dear Parents,

A Bit of a Do!

On Saturday at 11am our school showcases a number of our after school club groups in a community event on Grange Park. Held at the City Learning Centre this event brings our community together for an action packed few hours of fun, laughter and activity. The CTK show case looks like this:

11 am – Opening ceremony by Blackpool Mayor11.05 am – 11.25 am – Park School Band11.25 am – 11.35 am – CTK Footloose11.35 am – 11.45 am – Boundary School Choir11.45 am – 11.55 am – CTK Cheerleaders11.55 am – 12.10 pm – Boundary School Dancers12.10 pm – 12.20 pm – CTK Choir

Giants Workshop

Many of you will have received the flyer last week about the Stanley Park event also taking place this Saturday. The Giants will still be there after A Bit of a Do. We hope that you see our performances first and then wander down to the Park. If the weather is good, as is promised, both events will be well attended.

Sports Days

Our staff can’t believe how quickly sports days have come around this year. On Monday we enjoy our Foundation Sports at 9.30am. Morning children please come in as usual; afternoon children please come in for 9.20am. On Tuesday at 9.30 am our Key Stage One children will take part in their events. Finally our KS2 event is planned for Thursday – however may be subject to change with the pending teachers and support staff strike that day. The best case scenario would be that we can open our school for the morning session only for KS2 to take part in their events. I am meeting with the Chair of Governors later today to discuss risk assessments and will report on Monday the outcome of our discussions.Family BBQ

Short Notice but ….it is on Friday – next week. After many discussions it has been agreed that our Summer Fundraiser will take place immediately after school at 3.45pm. There will be the usual hot food (served from 4.30pm), a bouncy castle, face painting, throw a sponge at a teacher (or Headteacher!) and cakes/tombola stalls/raffles. This is a super family event and we hope that you can attend. Tickets will be on sale from Monday. Andrea Bennie and Amanda McNamee will give you further information. Any willing volunteers to support in our last minute preparations please contact the office

Inspection

Our RE inspection is now over. It has been a stressful day, but a positive celebration of all things CTK. I would like to place on record the amazing work our staff team has undertaken as part of our preparations for this inspection. Without a doubt I am proud of their dedication to our school and their support of me in leading our community. We await our result within the next three weeks.

Uniform

John Saul from Key has confirmed that our uniforms will be available on Monday 21st July for collection. He will set up shop in our school hall on that day from 9am and will distribute the items. Please remember we are operating a cash only system for the purchase of uniform and you have to pay Key personnel directly on the day of collection. Any uniforms that are not collected on that day will be kept safe for collection on another day.

There has been a production issue with our Year 6 (current Y5) shirts. We have decided that all Year 6 girls will now wear a collared shirt and tie for the winter and then have the option of a summer style short sleeved blouse in the Spring/Summer. Apologies for the late change. Please note ties are now available for Year 6 pupils (currently Year 5) for sale from the office priced £3 for a string and £3 for a normal version.

Visit to our new building

Your child will visit their new classroom with their teacher during the week of 21st July. Eric Wright has confirmed that the building will be ready for hand over that week and this will provide our pupils with an opportunity to see for the first time their new environment. They will also eat lunch there for the three days of that week, prepared for them by Donna and our usual team. This is for Catering Academy and our school staff to gauge the flow of the meal service and how best to accommodate the children.

StrikeA teaching and non-teaching strike is planned for Thursday, 10th July Further details will be sent on Monday

ICT Sale

Thank you to the many parents that purchased ICT equipment from our sale on Monday. We raised over £500. Apologies to those of you with net books that

have proved difficult to connect or had to be sold without wires. I believe that Mr Mitcehll has engaged with a number of families on this matter. On reflection perhaps those items had reached the end of their life. That said they were sold at a bargain price.

Children’s University

Next week Mrs Jan takes 7 third year graduates to receive their celebration certificate at the Winter Gardens Congratulations to our entire Blackpool Children’s University Winners.

Prize Winner

Congratulations to Abby Lund who won this week’s challenge. Next week’s challenge is to sing a world cup song to Mr Mitchell!! Entrants go and see Mr Mitchell next week. Thank you to all those who have entered so far. The winners receive a leather football.

Circus Trips

This week Year 3 & Year 5 enjoyed a trip to the circus. They had a great time at the event. This is a free event and requires no donation.

Legacy Sale

There are still a number of items that will be sold over the next few weeks. Please look out for text messages and notes on this newsletter to indicate what is being sold and when!

Kind regards

Mrs Sarah Smith
