There has been a decrease in all calls involving common assaults, Breach ofthe Peace, Section 38 Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010,street drinking and D&l from 9,264 to 8,078 a reduction of 13% with adetection rate of 85%.

• Cumbernauld − 1,542 recorded crimes compared to 1,564 (15/16) areduction of 1.4% with a detection rate of 84%

• Coatbridge/Airdrie —2,800 recorded crimes compared to 3,168(15/16) a reduction of 11.6%, with a detection rate of 85%

From 11tApriI 2016 to 31 December 2016, 1,066 user satisfaction surveys were carried out inLanarkshire Division. Of this number 80.6% reported that they are satisfied with the way policedealt with the incident they reported and the overall level of confidence in Police Scotland is 94%.

The serious / violent crimes of. Murder and attempted murder have experienced an increase in thisreporting period. There has been a reduction in the number of serious assaults committed, with 6 fewervictims. Part of the increase is due to Extortion via cyber Crimes. People being threatened online regardingpersonal photographs or videos which have been hacked and the person threatened that unless they paythen the item will be posted on a public forum.

There has been a slight rise in the number of complaints regarding disorder in North Lanarkshire over thisperiod. The policing of disorder and anti−social behaviour remains a high priority for Lanarkshire Division, thisstatistical information is supported by the results from our survey− Your View Counts. This survey indicatesthat the top priority within North Lanarkshire is anti−social behaviour and disorder. The support provided byour community planning partners is vital in tackling all forms of anti−social behaviour.

There has been a significant decrease in the number of road deaths over the reporting period, there are alsoreductions in the number of people seriously injured and injured in road traffic collisions. The fatal accidentoccurred on 13th December 2016 on B7066 Glasgow to Edinburgh Road, near Newhouse when a 29 yearold male died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Keeping people safe on our roads remains a highpriority for Lanarkshire Division and collaborative work is ongoing in relation to education and enforcement.
