From the Desk of Rev. Jean Pierre Aubin, Administrator

Dear Friends in Christ,

First, we would like to take a moment and tell you all, Fr. John and I have been praying for you in these most uncertain times. We have enjoyed seeing those of you who have been able to celebrate Mass with us and enjoyed the letters/cards of support from those of you who cannot attend at this time.

On behalf of our Collaborative we would like to ex-tend an apology for an email that was sent without our prior knowledge. It is never our intent to upset our Faith Formation Families or volunteers. Change is never easy but is a necessary part of life. Due to the overwhelming presence of the global pandemic and the uncertainty families face with remote learn-ing, we will be offering the following changes to our Faith Formation programming this year:

· Faith Formation will be offered to Sacramental Years ONLY.

· This includes grades two, nine and ten.

For all other grades we encourage you to use this time to keep Christ present in your family’s lives in a way that comforts you in these challenging times. We encourage everyone that is able to join us at Christ’s table to celebrate Mass.

For Sacramental grades, more information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact myself and Fr. John via our website www.walpolecatholic.net.

May God continue to bestow His blessings and graces upon you and your beautiful families.

In the name of our Lord,

Rev. Jean Pierre Aubin Administrator Rev. John Healy Parochial Vicar

Faith Formation Update

A M B R Dear Friends in Walpole,

Greetings to all! I want you to know how grateful I am for the many cards, notes, emails and gifts I have received since I left the collaborative. I am so thankful for these many expressions of your kindness and for the chance to have served as a priest at Saint Mary's and Blessed Sacrament parishes and school. Even though it was not a long period of time, it was one that will forever mark my life and priesthood!

My plan is not to be a stranger, so I hope to see you soon and often. May God bless you and your families as we work through this difficult period in society and the Church. Keep smiling, as St. Pio would often say, "pray, hope and don't worry..."

Your friend,

Bishop Reed

This week’s special collection supports the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust (CHRT) which cares for the health and well-being of our active and senior priests in good standing. Whether it is within our par-ish communities, or in the community at large, our priests are making a difference every day.

By supporting the special collection this weekend, you are helping to ensure that our priests receive the care they need to continue their important work.

Please put all donations in the baskets by the door.

Next week’s special collection will go to the Facilities Upkeep fund.

Our Daily Mass time has changed to 9am. The location schedule will remain the same, Monday – Wednesday at St. Mary’s and Thursday - Saturday at Blessed Sacra-ment. It is our hope that with Mass beginning at 9am it will be more accommodating for our parishioners and may even encourage new parishioners to join us.

P S I C R – P D

We will resume collecting monthly for the Pine St. Inn in September. Our service will be in a different capacity than the meal ingredients and dinner serving that we have done for 25 years or so. This will be a more limited, but just as worthwhile an undertaking.

We will collect healthy snack items that will be served to the guests for a week’s worth of lunches. We are asking you to sign up to bring 10 bars/bags of different snack items from the following list. The staff has re-quested: Pretzels, Nutri-Grain Bars, Popcorn, Veggie Sticks, Kind Bars, and Trail Mix and Chex Mix (or simi-lar). These are healthier choices than potato chips, etc. Each day a different one will be served, which will make the service quicker for the staff. We hope to collect a total of 700 snacks, 100 pre-packaged snacks of 7 types.

To organize this collection, we are asking that you use our sign up genius. You can go to our website (www.walpolecatholic.net) or go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0845aca92eaaf49-pine directly to sign up. Thanks to those who have already signed up!

Our collections will be once a month on Saturday morn-ings from 10-11am, at St. Mary Parish Center (205 Wash-ington St., 1st awning, off the parking lot). And the schedule for the year will be: Sept. 26 Oct. 31 Nov. 28 Dec. 19 If you have any questions, please contact Bill Connors at [email protected]. Thank you!

As a thank you for your support…

Please be our guest and learn more about the life-changing work of our priests at the 12th Annual Cele-bration of the Priesthood Virtual Gala.

C We will be having Confessions on Wednesday nights from 7-8pm at Blessed Sacrament. Please enter through the East St. entrance. There will no longer be Confessions on Saturdays until further notice.

W H Y ! Could a call from a fellow parishioner ease your worry or make you feel less alone? We have a group of volun-teers who are making calls and reaching out to those who are feeling alone and scared.

Please fill out the form on our website (www.walpolecatholic.net) or call either Parish Office and we will have a volunteer contact you shortly.

P R We are asked to pray for all the sick, grieving, and, suffering especially during this challenging time. Through our parish prayer lines, we also remember all our shut-ins, our unemployed, our sick, our grieving, and our own parish dead.

If you are a Blessed Sacrament parishioner, please call 508-668-2448 with your prayer intentions or to join the prayer line. If you wish to add a name to the prayer requests for St. Mary Parish, contact: Louise Fahey at [email protected].

90 D NOW I am reaching out to you about an effort created by a member of the laity with concern for our parishes during this time of cri-sis. It is a special, 90-day cam-paign that will provide offertory support directly to the parish. We are now in Phase 2 of this effort.

This special initiative asks, if possible, for parish-ioners to rally around their parish by making a special daily offertory commitment for the next 90 days. This effort is intended to supplement weekly offertory gifts, given the challenges of the current crisis. Should you choose to join in this effort, the Archdiocese has created an easy-to-use link to donate.

The site is available by using this link: www.BostonCatholic.org/donate.

We understand many of you may not be able to contribute to this special offertory collection giv-en the economic impact this pandemic has had on your personal finances. We remain grateful for your prayers of support for our parish family.

V P G We offer a “Virtual Prayer Group” every Saturday morn-ing from 9:00 – 10:00 am. Join Deacon Rey Spadoni as we prayerfully consider the readings of the next day, Sunday, which can be found at www.usccb.org. It’s an opportunity to connect, share and pray and all are wel-come. This meeting will be held via Zoom and can be accessed by clicking on the following link. Should you need a password, please enter when prompted: Wal-pole.

25th Sunday in Ordinary Time September 20, 2020

WELCOME BACK! We ask that everyone follow these guidelines strictly and be patient.

1. Cardinal O’Malley has dispensed everyone, of our Sunday obligation indefinitely. With this in mind, people in vulnerable populations (over the age of 65), especially the elderly and those who have existing health concerns are encouraged to watch Mass from their homes on the television or internet (CatholicTV). People who are not able to wear a mask for health reasons should also stay home and partake in the cele-bration of Mass through CatholicTv and the internet.

2. Mass Schedule: Blessed Sacrament Parish 4pm Mass on Saturday, and 8am, 9:30am, 11am Mass on Sunday. St. Mary's 4pm on Saturday and 7:30am, 9am and 11:30am on Sun-day. There will be no hospitality until further notice. Churches will open 15 minutes before the scheduled time for Mass. Daily Mass at 9am will be held at St. Mary's Monday-Wednesday and Blessed Sacrament Thursday-Saturday. St. Mary's will be locked after Daily Mass. Private prayer continues in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. 3. Attendees at the Masses will be severely limited due to the need to maintain distancing. Families and those who live to-gether may occupy one bench or row. Single individuals will be distanced from each other by 6 feet. When the churches are “full” based on these seating restrictions, parishioners will be asked to attend another mass. Attendees will need to reserve a spot each week on our SignUp portal or call the parish offic-es. Also, it is very important that you please make sure you arrive on time or early for Mass since there is an added step now with signing people in. To reserve a spot for either a WEEKEND or DAILY Mass or to VOLUNTEER please use our website or call the parish offices (Blessed Sacrament 508-668-4700 x1024 or St. Mary's 508-668-4974) to have your name added to the Mass attendee list. **Updated SignUp's will be available on our website on Mon-day and will close on Friday at 3pm so that we can prepare for the weekend. Also, people need to register each week for a Mass time slot and due to our space limitation, it is important that you cancel your registration if necessary so the spot can be offered to another parishioner.

4. Both churches will utilize one entryway (Main entrance at both BSP & STM – handicap entrance will be available too). Parishioners will be asked to proceed up the center aisle and either sit on the inside pews or continue around to the outside pews. Keeping in mind the 6’ social distance rule.

5. Missallettes have been removed and there will be no con-gregational singing, nor will choirs be allowed until further notice. Mass will not begin with a procession nor will there be an offertory procession. Baskets will be placed at the doors for the offertory collection. We encourage on-line giving and mail ins. There will be no sign of peace or the holding of hands dur-ing the Our Father.

6. All parishioners over the age of 5 are asked to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth during Mass. At Com-munion time, parishioners are asked to come to communion by the center aisle and return by the side aisle, observing the 6 feet distance markers on the floor. Everyone should leave their seat or bench, even if you do not plan to receive Com-munion, in order to avoid people having to step over one an-other. Please fully extend your arm with hands cupped as the priest/Eucharistic Minister drops the host into your hand. Please step to the side, where the floor is marked, lift up the bottom of your mask and place the host in your mouth before returning to your seat.

7. At the end of Mass, please leave the church immediately by the front side doors but do so, row by row, maintaining the 6-foot distance requirement.

8. Only priests and deacons are allowed in the sacristy.

9. Confessions: Wednesdays 7-8 pm Blessed Sacrament Sanc-tuary. Please enter through the East St. entrance. (Saturday 3pm Confessions have been suspended).

10. Parishioners are invited and encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer to Mass. We will also have hand sanitizer availa-ble throughout the church.

*In the case of our discovering that someone at Mass tests posi-tive for COVID-19, we want to be able to inform all of you so that, in consultation with your physician, you can take the appropri-ate steps. If you registered to come to a Mass, we already have your con-tact information, and will reach out to you if we learn that some-one here has tested positive. If you did not register, and if you wish to be contacted, please call or email the rectory with the appropriate contact infor-mation so that you can receive a notification. Even if you do not choose to leave your name, please know that we will make any announcement of a positive test on the parish website as well, so please check the website on a regular basis. Also, If you are not feeling well please stay home and if you find you need to change your weekend plans please cancel your timeslot so that we can offer it to someone else. Thank you.

V N We are in need of volunteers to greet and check in our parishioners, and usher them to their seats, if needed, at each Mass and to help clean between Masses.

Please sign up by calling the parish offices– for Blessed Sacrament Parish Office: (508)668-4700 or St. Mary Parish Office (508)668-4974. Or sign up on the SignUp Genius portal on our website to volunteer.

B R We are so thankful to have resumed our Group Bap-tisms. In order to follow State and Diocesan man-dates and keep our families safe, we have some new protocols to follow.

Group baptisms will still be taking place on the sec-ond Sunday of the month at 1pm at St. Mary's and again at 2pm, if numbers warrant. Group baptisms at Blessed Sacrament take place on the third Sunday of the month at 12:30pm and 1:30pm, if needed.

Please feel free to contact our Baptism Coordinators at 508-668-4974. You can leave a message and your call will be returned.

S . V P Thank you all for your donations to SVdP. If you would like to contribute, please send your check (payable to SVdP) to SVDP, 25 Prospect Street, Walpole, MA 02081. You can be assured that your funds will be used to help a needy families in our community with food, clothing, utility bills, and/or rent.

God bless you all!

NICENE CREED I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

T Y !

We are so thankful to Noreen O’Day and Anita Hoff-man for their hard work in getting the containers in front and side of St. Mary Church and the Parish Cen-ter blooming. They got them done in time to greet our First Communion children and their families at the

Masses that took place last week-end.

Our priests are often at the center of efforts that build

strong support systems for all of us. In addition to

their daily pastoral responsibilities, they help establish

social service organizations, offer spiritual support for first

responders, operate parish food pantries, and recently, in

response to the pandemic, put their lives at risk to provide

comfort and peace to those suffering with COVID-19.

Healthier priests build stronger communities. And the

Clergy Health and Retirement Trust (CHRT) is dedicated to

keeping our priests healthy.

This September, you can support the CHRT’s mission

by giving to the special collection at Masses on

September 19/20. Every gift makes a difference and is

a symbol of gratitude for all our priests who don’t just

observe need in our communities; they seek it out so

they can respond.
