Message from Fr. Steve Dublinski We are now in our third week of being closed and Holy Week is just ahead. Though the coronavirus has not hit Whitman County hard yet, we all know people in areas that are fighting the “beast.” Locally, I am thankful for all who are doing everything they can to prevent the virus spread . Palm Sunday is approaching, and I had hoped to find a way to get palms to you. This is not possible. For your home observance of Palm Sunday you may consider cutting some evergreen boughs since they are the only thing available. For families with children you may want to get creative and cut palms out of paper and color them, or make ribbon streamers on a stick. On Sunday morning palms will be blessed and then put back into cold storage with the hope that we can hand them out at a later date. At 8:30 Sunday morning mass will be livestreamed. This is intended to compliment your home observance of the Lord’s Day. There are resources on our webpage to help you pray at home. Click on our Praying At Home this Sunday link to find a suggested prayer service. If you are watching the Mass online, there is a link on our webpage with the songs so that you can sing along. We recently ordered 150 small holy water bottles. If you are part of Flock Notes you’ll receive a notice that you can respond to and a bottle of holy water will be left on your doorstep. We will wash the bottles before filling them and then handle them with gloves to prevent contamination. The Holy Water can be used on Easter Saturday and Sunday during the Renewal of our Profession of Faith. On weekdays Mass is livestreamed in the morning at 7:15. If that is a little early for you it can be replayed at your leisure on Facebook or in HD on our webpage. If you would like to pray the stations of the cross there is a new link on our homepage that includes pictures of our stations here at Sacred Heart. The prayers are in both English and Spanish. We still need your financial support. Donations can be mailed in or you may give online. Go to sacredheartpullman.org/online-giving to make a one time donation or to schedule automatic contributions on a monthly basis. I really appreciate your support. This is a hard time for everyone. The coronavirus strikes fear in the heart of most of us. Fear is not a good guide for the soul. Jesus over and over again encourages us: “Do not be afraid.” One way of overcoming fear is to get creative. Some people are being really creative in finding ways to help others. If you have come up with a creative way to help, I would love to be able to post it on Facebook. You may encourage someone else to step out in hope in these dark times. Join me in holding all our parish members in prayer every day. Yours in Christ, Fr. Steve Dublinski

Parish Directory! We are making plans for a long over-due parish directory book. We decided to try having parish households email pictures to the office rather than taking everyone’s picture. We may still have some photo shoots when it is safe, and if you don’t have a digital copy, we can scan and return a photo. Please email pictures to: [email protected]

Our Helping Hands Group will deliver needed items to those who cannot go out, and meals to households where the adults are too sick to cook. (We will leave them on the porch). Thank you to our volunteers. If you can help, please email Mary Sutherland at [email protected] or Sue McNamara, [email protected] Please contact Mary or Sue if you need deliveries.

CRS Rice Bowl. Do this in Memory of Me. As we enter Holy Week, we celebrate the gift of the Eucharist as our heavenly food. We continue to reflect on the

challenge of global hunger. How does our faith inspire us to share the gifts that God has bestowed on us? Visit www.crsricebowl.org for more. Photo by

paid! You can mail checks to 440 NE Ash St, Pullman, WA 99163, set up online payments at: https://www.sacredheartpullman.org/online-giving, or set up “Bill Pay” with your bank or credit union.
