Motivation
Improve the efficiency of User Interfaces by switching to 3D Interfaces
Achieve better organisation of data through 3D GUI
Develop memory aids based on 3D graphics Exploit the correlation between Memory and
Environment

Project
Compare a 2D model of organisation of data against a 3D model in the context of Human Memory
Basic idea involves cards representing data arranged separately in 2D and 3D models, which are to be recalled by the user
Game requires only ‘recalling abilities’, making it suitable for the purpose

Conclusions
Better performance in 2D attributed to: Viewing all the cards at once Less location data and no navigation hassles
Poorer performance in 3D attributed to: No frame of reference in a room Lack of familiarity and comfort with the map
Improvement in results on providing some frame of reference in a room
Users expected better performance in a more detailed 3D model

Future Steps
Repeat experiment with: More innovative and real-life ideas instead of cards More detailed 3D model Allow user to get familiarized with the map and the
application GUI of application designed on user-feedback
Based on results of future research, we can conceive novel ideas involving 3D graphics and User Interfaces
