Excellent resistance to all normal process chemicals.
Recommended pH range: 49. Avoid prolonged expo-
sure to strong alkalis and acids or alcohols.
Film sizer top and bottom rolls
 Gate rolls
Applications
 Superbly uniform lm transfer
 Excellent wear resistance
 Good wad resistance
 Extended grinding intervals
Suitable for processes with both surface
sizing and lm coating (swing machines)
Benets
CoteFalcon is an extremely wear resistant applicator roll cover designed for bothlm coating and surface sizing. It is excellent for operation with both smooth andgrooved rods and features high-quality coating lm formation for ease of operation.

CoteFalcon technical data
Roll covers should ideally be cleaned with plain water
because strong chemicals may damage them. Soap or
sodium solutions may also be used, or the cover may
be wiped clean with an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent.
If a lye solution is used, the roll surface must be
washed with clean water immediately a er treatment.
Roll covers cannot withstand long-term exposure to
lye, acids or alcohols. Any extended exposure of cover
materials to excessive alkalinity (pH > 9) or acidity
(pH < 4) during operation or cleaning must be
avoided.

Rolls used in press section or sizing or coating may be
cooled internally with water to balance the roll tem-
perature and to avoid pro le changes due to tempera-
ture variations in the cross direction. e incoming
water temperature should not be below 35°C (95°F);
ideally it will be close to the process temperature. e
maximum water outlet temperature should be below
60°C (140°F). e temperature dierence between
inlet and outlet should preferably be less than 5°C
(9°F).
Polyurethane covers absorb water over time. A water-
logged cover will bond less well with the metal roll
body and must therefore be allowed to dry before
reuse. e drying time between runs should be two-
thirds of the last running period, with a minimum of
four weeks. e cover can be reground before drying.
Roll covers must be protected at all times. Roll temper-
ature should remain above 0°C (32°F) during transpor-
tation. When rolls are shipped in cold weather
(below 5°C/40°F), it is recommended to allow them to
warm up in their transportation packaging in a heated
place for at least 24 hours before unpacking. Sudden
temperature changes may damage roll covers. Store
rolls in a dry roll storage room at 1030°C (5086°F).
Always support rolls by their journals. Protect the
entire covered roll surface with a layer of paper or card-
board. Never store rolls resting on their cover.
Sizer covers are usually not doctored, but steel
sealing doctor blades may be used
If doctoring is needed, plastic blades are preferred,
e.g. Valmet's ValPoly blades
 Blade size: 1.5 mm (5/8 ) thick × 75 mm (3 ) wide" "
 Blade angle: 20° ± 1°
 Maximum blade load: 90140 N/m (0.50.8 )pli
 Oscillation is recommended.
