According to Webster, integrity is

“Uprightness of character; probity; honesty. The condition or quality of being unimpaired

or sound.”



According to Webster, integrity is



In our relativistic society without a moral compass to guide us we have replaced

“Is it right?”

with

“Does it work?”



Job held the line on integrity by saying

• “As long as life is in me, and the breath of God is in my nostrils, my lips certainly will not speak unjustly, nor will my tongue utter deceit… Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me… My heart does not reproach any of my days.” (Job 27:3-6)



Job’s standard of integrity

Reaped a life void of personal reprehension.

THE REWARD FOR INTEGRITY AND THE

CONSEQUENCES FOR DUPLICITY

"The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity."

(Prov.11:3)



Case• Andy finally let his Christian brothers

know of his alcoholic struggle of many years…After his wife demanded that he move out of the house.

• For years there was a serious problem of some type, but he would never allow anyone access to his personal life.



QUESTION:Work through the following slides and decide into which column do

you fall?



RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE versus UNRIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:

• RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE: "Righteousness guards the man of integrity

• UNRIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:But wickedness overthrows the sinner."REF. 13:6




• RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:"He whose walk is blameless is kept safe

• UNRIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:But he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall."Ref. 28:18




• RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:"The man of integrity walks securely

• UNRIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:But he who takes crooked paths will be found out."Ref. 10:9




• RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:"The righteousness of the upright delivers them

• UNRIGHTEOUS PEOPLE:But the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires."Ref. 11:6



The reality of it is that God rewards people of integrity

while the double minded can look forward to harsh consequences for

their actions. (See Psa 25:21; 73:18-20; 125:5; Prov. 26:11)



REFLECTION:

• In to which column do you fall? • If it is the "unrighteous" column, are

you prepared to live with the inevitable consequences of your double life?



Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I

surrender myself to walk in the Word in the marketplace. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen



Learning, application and commitment: James 1: 22-25

• “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

• Do what it says. • Anyone who listens to the word but does not do

what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

• But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.” (NIV)
