Leadership Styles



Servant leaders, however, look at leadership as an act of

service.They embrace and

welcome feedback as a source of useful information on how they can provide better service



For I say, through the grace given to me. To everyone who is among you. Not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think. But to think soberly as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Romans 12:3

be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted. He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Apply First Aid for Treating Toxic Fear

• Accurately assess the situation• What’s at risk? What’s secure?• Is the danger real or imagined?• What short-term action may be required?• What help is available?• Keep the patient – you or your organisation –

calm and reassured.• Apply trust, faith, hope and love as often as

necessary



The journey of servant leadership…

that starts in the Heart with motivation and intent must travel through another internal domain, that of the Head, which is the leader’s belief system and perspective on the role of the leader



Understanding the difference between “success” and “effectiveness”

“Success” can involve accomplishing short-term goals as the long-range detriment of those engaged in creating the success.

“Effectiveness” accomplishes the long-range growth and development of those involved in producing the desired end as well as the result itself.



Change1. People will fell awkward, ill at ease and

self-conscious when confronted by change – tell people what to expect.

2. People will feel alone even if everyone else is going through the same change. – structure activities that create involvement. Encourage individuals to share ideas and to work together to help each other through change.



Change3. People will think first about what

they have to give up. Don’t try to sell the benefits of the

change effort initially. Let people mourn their perceived

losses. Listen to them



Change4. People will think they can handle so much

change at once. – Set priorities on which changes to make, and go for the long run.

5. People will be concerned that they don’t have enough resources (time, money, skills etc) to implement the change. – Encourage creative problem solving.



Change6. People will be at different levels of readiness for

any particular change. – Don’t label or pick on people. Recognize that some people are risk-takers and others take longer to feel secure. Someone who’s an early adopter of one type of change might balk at another type of change.

7. If pressure is taken off, people will refer to old behaviours. – Keep people focused on maintaining the change and managing the journey.



Do not be anxious about anything,…..

but in everything, by prayer and petition. With thanksgiving, present your requests to

God and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Encourage one anotherLet us consider how

we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Let us not give up meeting together, but let us encourage one another. Hebrews 10:24-25
