PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIESWorld Mission Sunday: “Go! Make disciples of all nations.” (Mt 28:19). These words - the imperative mission of Christ - call each baptized Catholic to action. The Church has a lasting mission to perform in this world, a mission that is ever more apparent, and the need for it ever more urgent. In fact, mission isn’t something the Church does. It is what the Church is! This year, World Mission Sunday is on October 20. This is a worldwide collection for the Missionary Church that offers: - emergency aid when disaster strikes, - cares for refugees in war-torn countries- provides rural health clinics- transportation for priests, catechists, religious and lay pastoral workers, and offers financial support for the daily needs of missionaries. Please pray for the missions and be generous on World Mission Sunday.

THE ST. JOHN’S CENTRE DEANERY will be holding MINISTRY WORKSHOPS for the parishes in the deanery. There will be a series of five workshops this fall, all of which will be held at Corpus Christi Parish Centre. All people in a specific ministry are invited to attend the workshop on the designated day. The workshops all fall on a Wednesday and gofrom 7PM-8:30 PM. These workshops will serve as a refresher course for the ministers looking at the ministry from a theological and pastoral perspective. We would then ask the pastors to follow up in their own parishes with an informationnight for each ministry about the particulars of how that ministry is celebrated in your own parish (i.e.- because each parish has its own particular way of doing things).
