Company overviewCompany overview

o Founded in 2002, Gasrec has assembled a portfolio of exclusive technologies to

o Produce biogas from landfill and other waste streams

o Use the biogas as cost effective, carbon negative vehicle fuel or for renewable power generation

o market to customers who require cost effective energy solutions and want to enhance environmental credentials

o Exploit current legislative drivers and public opinion

o These technologies are patented, proven and commercial and are applicable to a global problem

o Mission statement

“To produce a carbon neutral fuel from society’s waste to power those vehicles and services essential to society”

OpportunityOpportunity

o Landfill

o 300 UK landfill sites generating 1,700 MW/h of renewable power

o Further c40 sites producing gas which cannot be exploited to produce renewable electricity

o renewable value of the gas is insufficient – NFFO contract;

o local grid connection cannot accept the load -‘wires full’; or

o gas is contaminated and causes damage to plant and equipment

o Approximately 75m tonnes of waste is sent to landfill each year in the UK alone

o 1 tonne of organic waste in a landfill produces 70m3 of methane over time

o Other waste

o Food retailers produce in excess of 1m tonnes of putrescible food waste each year

o At a conservative estimate, UK distilleries and breweries produce c3x that amount

o Water and sewage companies produce substantial volumes of biogas as a process byproduct

o 1 tonne of typical feedstock can produce 40m3 of methane depending on residence time

Strategic rationaleStrategic rationale

o All organic waste produces methane on decomposition

o waste disposal viewed as a cost

o waste is a resource that can be exploited

o Provide benefit to society from its waste

o Society produces large amounts of food waste

o Food transported predominantly by road

o 25% of all road miles are food miles

o link waste production to fuel consumption - virtuous circle

o Focus on niche market

o urban environment

o “back to base” fleet operations

o municipal vehicles (buses, RCVs)

o delivery vehicles (HGVs)

o Decentralised CHP

ProductProduct

o Liquid Bio Methane – “LBM”

o LBM is a readily transported fuel with the following characteristics

o direct substitute for either LNG or CNG

o storable and transportable

o Lowest carbon intensity of any readily available fuel

o Vehicle fuel

o cheaper and cleaner than diesel, CNG or LNG

o very dry compared to CNG

o 1Kg of LBM provides the same energy as 1.2 litres of diesel

o Renewable power generation

o 1 tonne of LBM produces 5MW/h of electricity or c10MW/h of CHP

o retains renewable status and qualifies for ROC credits

o Lack of contaminants benefits both the environment and engine durability

Albury Landfill ProjectAlbury Landfill Project

o Albury Landfill near Guildford

o Landfill site owned and operated by SITA UK

o Project life 15 years

o Site processes 4 million tonnes of Surrey’s domestic waste

o Organic degradation will produce min 2,250 m3/hour @50% CH4

o When processed gas will produce c5,000 tonnes of LBM per annum

o Sufficient energy to

o propel 100 HGVs or 400 LGVs per annum

o Provide 28,000 MW/h of offsite electrical power per annum; or

o Provide 60,000 MW/h of offsite CHP per annum
