Content Global Awareness ProjectWorld Congress Day 1
After series of workshops and activities, Campers finally
came to the highlight of the Global Awareness Project, the World
Congress, which was successfully held from 27th to 28th December,
2013 at the University of Hong Kong.
In the two-day Congress, Campers were given the chance to
present their proposals regarding the global issues assigned and to
go through a series of activities which could polish their different
skills and abilities. Day 1 of the World Congress commenced with
an introduction, the rules and regulations of the event by our
Chairperson, Mr. NIP Timothy Chi Fung.
Each of the six groups were given 20 minutes to present their
well-analysed and feasible solutions, followed up by a 30-minute
question and answer session immediately. Committee members and
Campers, who represented different countries and roles would
comment and criticize the proposed solutions. As a result, Campers’
presentation skills and critical thinking skills were enhanced and
polished through responding to challenging questions by others.
The presentations were followed by the free discussion session,
in which each group was given the opportunity to approach the other
five groups for comments and suggestions while Committee members
acted as different NGOs to question, as well as to provide assistance
to them. After the event, an incident occurred - members of Cynic
intruded the Congress by breaking into the room and kidnapping some
Campers. They then demanded Campers to amend their proposals and
to propose more feasible solutions. Additionally, having known that
similar problems were found in Hong Kong, the Cynic urged Campers
to propose new solutions to tackle the problems of Hong Kong. The
requirements of the Cynic marked the end of the day.

Global Awareness Project
World Congress day 2 The second day of the World Congress began with members
of Cynic questioning the 6 nations on their modified proposals.
Strenuous questions were posed so as to trap Campers into
committing into things they were not prepared for.
After a lengthy session of examination, members of Cynic finally
accepted the proposals, thus Campers breathed a sigh of relief. Yet,
this did not last for long as they realized they had something more
challenging ahead.
In order to make their proposals more feasible and possible,
Campers were given the opportunity to seek support from different
famous people such as Mark Zuckerberg portrayed by the Committee
Members, asking for support and donation. The World Congress
climaxed with groups voting to pass or stall the 6 proposals in the
interest of their countries.
After hearing an inspiring speech from the Chairperson of the 19th
Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders, Mr. William Leung, to clear
the tension, a heartfelt rendition of the Union Song and some
enthusiastic cheering, the 2-day Congress came to an end.

Global Awareness ProjectClosing Ceremony
The 22nd HKUYL GAP Closing Ceremony was successfully held
on 9th February, 2014 at TWGHs Wong Fut Nam College, aiming to
evaluate the performance of Campers during the whole project.
The ceremony started with several energetic cheering and ice-
breaking games. After that, a mass game was held, requiring each
group to cooperate with other groups to finish different tasks so as
to gather information of various current issues. In the end, Campers
were asked to give a 10-minute presentation in the form of City Forum,
News Report or News Magazine.
After lunch, entertaining videos created by Campers celebrating
Chinese New Year were shown, followed by a speech on media bias
by Mr. Nathan Chan, the Chairperson of the 21st Hong Kong Union
for Young Leaders. Before the workshop ended, a closing video
containing memories of the journey of GAP was played. The back-
writing session provided Campers with an opportunity to reveal their
thoughts of the event. The Global Awareness Project closed with
the heartfelt Union Song and stimulating Outstanding Cheer.

Introductionof
Youth Leadership Seminar
Right after the Global Awareness Project is the Youth Leadership
Seminar, which is also known as one of the highlights of the year.
During the Youth Leadership Seminar, Campers will be divided into
groups of people struggling to survive in a chaotic world provided by the
Committee members. Each group will then combine into alliances and asked
to come up solutions that will assure their survival in this disorderly world.
Through numerous workshops and discussions, Campers will be able to equip
them with the skills needed as good leaders.
Such skills will definitely be useful during the apex of the Camper
program – a four-day-three-night camp, where Campers will have to undergo
trainings and simulations so as to achieve the ultimate aim of saving the
planet.
The Youth Leadership Seminar is where long-lasting friendships built,
as well as where Campers would be able to explore their own definitions of
leadership and UYL magic.
