Call to Worship

Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul!

I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises

to my God while I have my being.

Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is

in them, who keeps faith forever;

The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all

generations. Praise the LORD!

(Psalms 146:1–2,6,10)

Hymn of Adoration

Majesty (CP 49)

Majesty, worship His majesty; Unto Jesus be all glory, honor, and praise.

Majesty, kingdom authority Flow from His throne unto His own, His anthem raise.

So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus. Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus, the King.

Majesty, worship His majesty; Jesus, who died, now glorified, King of all kings.

Hymn of Adoration

How Great Thou Art (HOP23)

1. O Lord, my God! When I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

(Refrain)

Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

2. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin.

3. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation,

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow in humble adoration and

There proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

Scripture Reading-2 Samuel 6:1-7, 12-17, 20-23 1 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim.

3 And they carried the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart,

4 with the ark of God, and Ahio went before the ark.

5 And David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the LORD, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.

6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled.

7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the ark of God.

12 And it was told King David, ―The LORD has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.‖ So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing.

13 And when those who bore the ark of the LORD had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal.

14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod.

15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn.

16 As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart.

17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD and set it in its place, inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

20 And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, ―How the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants' female servants, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!‖

21 And David said to Michal, ―It was before the LORD, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince[f] over Israel, the people of the LORD—and I will celebrate before the LORD.

22 I will make myself yet more contemptible than this, and I will be abased in your eyes. But by the female servants of whom you have spoken, by them I shall be held in honor.‖

23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

Responsive Hymn

O, to Be Like Thee (CP340)

1. Oh, to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer,

This is my constant longing and prayer.

Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures, Jesus,

Thy perfect likeness to wear.

(Refrain)

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,

Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art!

Come in Thy sweetness,

Come in Thy fullness;

Stamp Thine own image deep in my heart.

2. Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,

Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,

Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,

Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

3. Oh, to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,

Holy and harmless, patient and brave;

Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,

Willing to suffer others to save.

3.Tuesday Prayer Meeting Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, ever since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, although the church is unable to hold our regular services and gatherings, we strongly believe that everyone still thirsts for the scripture, prayer, worship and evangelism, as well as caring for the needs of others. Therefore, our church will hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group. The sequence is as follows: Introduction, Songs, Scripture Reading, Prayer items. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us from your individual homes!

Pr. Erlina Christynova (the in-charge of our church’s prayer meetings) will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!

4.COVID-19 We ask all brothers and sisters to specially pray for Singapore and other countries during this time of need. May the Lord grant us His mercy, compassion and healing.

5.December Baptism

In view of the COVID-19 precautionary measures, we will be accepting registrations for baptismal classes for those who have, in the past, attended our church services regularly for a period of at least 6 months. The classes are compulsory for those who intend to be baptised, confirmed or to transfer their membership during the service on 20 December 2020. Classes will begin in the middle of August. Please obtain the registration form from the CS Office and submit it together with a recent photograph to our pastoral staff or the CS Office by 2 August 2020.

6.COVID-19: Phase 2 Reopening The Singapore Government announced on 15 June that we will be entering Phase 2 reopening on 19 June. Although the community spread of the virus is under control, there is always the potential for the virus to resurface.

We should continue to do our part to ensure the health and safety of ourselves and those around us.

Therefore, everyone should continue to maintain a high level of self-discipline and take the necessary precautions: avoid gathering in groups (social gatherings should not exceed 5 in number), maintain 1m social distancing, scan the SafeEntry QR code when you enter and leave the premises, download the TraceTogether app, always wear a mask and monitor your temperature etc.

7.Congratulation We rejoice with Mr & Mrs Lewis Teo (Raine Lim) on the arrival of their baby boy,

Teo Yun Kye on 24 June 2020, and extend our heartiest congratulations.

Glory Presbyterian Church Notice of Annual Congregational Meeting 2020

Dear Brothers- and Sisters-in-Christ,

The Registry of Societies has issued its Guidance on Conduct of General Meetings and Governing Bodies’ Meetings of Registered Societies During Control Period (the “Guidance”), in line with the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Alternative Arrangements For Meetings For Registered Societies) Order 2020.

The Guidance sets out the alternative arrangements for the conduct of general meetings during these extraordinary times. Pursuant to the Guidance, as members are unable to attend the general meetings physically, societies can (amongst others):

a. require a member to appoint the chairman of the meeting as the member’s proxy to vote at the general meeting, and for this to be the only means of voting; and

b. provide that a member may only attend a general meeting by observing and listening to the proceedings of the meeting by electronic means.

Therefore, in line with the above, we will be adopting this mode for our Annual Congregational Meeting (“ACM”) 2020, to be held on 27 September 2020 at 11:00am.

To facilitate the conduct of the ACM 2020, all Communicant Members are to register for the ACM 2020 by providing their details (name, email address, and handphone number) at this link:

URL QR Code

https://forms.gle/NhVEcdedVEmSuT8MA

We ask all Communicant Members to complete the registration by 2 August 2020 2:00pm.

All Communicant Members so registered will receive a confirmation email on 16 August 2020, together with the relevant documents for the ACM.

Pursuant to the Constitution of our church, the requisite quorum for the conduct of our ACM is 150 persons. We ask all Members to play their part, and to register for the ACM as soon as possible. We will also be reaching out to Members via WhatsApp and SMS, to remind them to register for the ACM.

Dear Members of Glory Presbyterian Church,

The Singapore Government announced on 15 June 2020 that we will be entering Phase 2 reopening on 19 June 2020.

Our church will continue to suspend all our services and gatherings, pending further details to be announced by the government. Nonetheless, our online broadcast of Sunday services will continue. We ask that all members inform your family and friends.

Our church will also continue to hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group, lasting about 30mins. This will allow each of us to join in and pray together in our respective homes. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us!

Pr. Erlina Christynova (the in-charge of our church’s prayer meetings) will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!

We ask everyone to continue to keep our church in your prayers, that He will continue to guide, lead and bless us!

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. [Jeremiah 29: 11 (ESV)]
