Scripture Reading – 2 Samuel 1:1-16 1 After the death of Saul, when David had returned from striking down the
Amalekites, David remained two days in Ziklag.
2 And on the third day, behold, a man came from Saul's camp, with his clothes torn and dirt on his head. And when he came to David, he fell to the ground and paid homage.
3 David said to him, “Where do you come from?” And he said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Israel.”
4 And David said to him, “How did it go? Tell me.” And he answered, “The people fled from the battle, and also many of the people have fallen and are dead, and Saul and his son Jonathan are also dead.”
5 Then David said to the young man who told him, “How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?”
6 And the young man who told him said, “By chance I happened to be on Mount Gilboa, and there was Saul leaning on his spear, and behold, the chariots and the horsemen were close upon him.
7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called to me. And I answered, „Here I am.‟
8 And he said to me, „Who are you?‟ I answered him, „I am an Amalekite.‟
9 And he said to me, „Stand beside me and kill me, for anguish has seized me, and yet my life still lingers.‟
10 So I stood beside him and killed him, because I was sure that he could not live after he had fallen. And I took the crown that was on his head and the armlet that was on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord.”
11 Then David took hold of his clothes and tore them, and so did all the men who were with him.
12 And they mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and for Jonathan his son and for the people of the LORD and for the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
13 And David said to the young man who told him, “Where do you come from?” And he answered, “I am the son of a sojourner, an Amalekite.”
14 David said to him, “How is it you were not afraid to put out your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?”
15 Then David called one of the young men and said, “Go, execute him.” And he struck him down so that he died.
16 And David said to him, “Your blood be on your head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, „I have killed the LORD's anointed.‟”

Responsive Hymn
We Are Called to Be God’s People (CP469)
1. We are called to be God's people,
Showing by our lives His grace,
One in heart and one in spirit,
Sign of hope for all the race.
Let us show how He has changed us,
And remade us as His own,
Let us share our life together,
As we shall around His throne.
2. We are called to be God's servants,
Working in His world today;
Taking His own task upon us,
All His sacred words obey.
Let us rise, then, to His summons,
Dedicate to Him our all,
That we may be faithful servants,
Quick to answer now His call.
3. We are called to be God's prophets,
Speaking for the truth and right;
Standing firm for godly justice,
Bringing evil things to light.
Let us seek the courage needed,
Our high calling to fulfill,
That we all may know the blessing
Of the doing of God's will.

PRAYER REQUESTS AND NOTICES 14 June 2020
1.GPC 2020 Theme: Word & Evangelising Scripture: Acts 17: 11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
2.Tuesday Prayer Meeting Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, ever since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, although the church is unable to hold our regular services and gatherings, we strongly believe that everyone still thirsts for the scripture, prayer, worship and evangelism, as well as caring for the needs of others. Therefore, our church will hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group. The sequence is as follows: Introduction, Songs, Scripture Reading, Prayer items. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us from your individual homes!
Rev Christopher Chan (the in-charge of our church’s prayer meetings) will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!
3.COVID-19 We ask all brothers and sisters to specially pray for Singapore and other countries during this time of need. May the Lord grant us His mercy, compassion and healing.
4.Ending of COVID-19 Circuit Breaker: Phased Approach to Resuming Social Activities The COVID-19 Circuit Breaker, which commenced on 7 Apr, officially ended on 1 June. Activities will resume in 3 phases. You may feel disappointed about not being able to dine-in at restaurants and hawker centres, or about the continued closure of recreational and sports facilities. However, schools are able to resume classes, one-third of workers are able to return to office for work, and more than three-quarters of economic activities will resume in June.
Even though the community cases are under control, the resurfacing of the virus is still a potential danger, and we need to be mentally prepared and not let our guard down. Further, as more employees return gradually to their work places, the risk of cross-infection may increase. We must therefore be alert.
In addition, everyone must remain disciplined and avoid social gatherings, observe “social distancing” rules and wear a mask when outdoors. Each one of us must fulfill our responsibility, and protect our loved ones and Singapore.
5.Condolence Sister Ng Ann Sin, was called home to be with the Lord on 5 June 2020, aged 104. Wake service was held on 7 June 2020. Funeral Service was held on 8 June 2020. May the abiding peace of our Almighty Lord be the comfort of the bereaved family.

Dear Members of Glory Presbyterian Church,
Our government has announced that the COVID-19 Circuit Breaker, which commenced on 7 Apr, officially ended on 1 June. Activities will resume in 3 phases.
Our church will continue to suspend all our services and gatherings until end of June, pending further details to be announced by the government. Nonetheless, our online broadcast of Sunday services will continue. We ask that all members inform your family and friends.
Our church will also continue to hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group, lasting about 30mins. This will allow each of us to join in and pray together in our respective homes. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us!
Rev Christopher Chan (the in-charge of our church’s prayer meetings) will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!
We ask everyone to continue to keep our church in your prayers, that He will continue to guide, lead and bless us!
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. [Jeremiah 29: 11 (ESV)]
