The Class of 2015’s Journey

Members of the Ste Jeanne d’Arc School Class of 2015 gathered on June 6th for a reunion. Members of the class shared their high school experiences and aspirations for the future. Caleb and Bethany fondly recalled kite day at SJA while Nick could almost recite his “who’s on first” skit from Graduate Awards Night.

Caleb Craig talked about the wonderful experiences he had in the Drama Program at Lowell Catholic. He performed in several plays including It’s a Wonderful Life and Sound of Music where he played the role of Georg von Trapp. Caleb even discovered his hidden singing talent and gave us a sample of Fiddler on the Roof accompanied by Mrs. Saba. Caleb will be attending Emerson College in the fall to study journalism. (Maybe he can even help with some articles for the SJA Alumni News. hint, hint)

Maddie Garneau enjoyed her years at Lowell Catholic where she participated in the Leadership Institute and was captain of the Mock Trial team. Maddie was also a member of the ASL Club and co-editor of the Literary Magazine. In the fall she will be heading to The College of New Jersey where she will major in Deaf Education and Elementary Education.

Bethany Sheehan received the Kathleen Kelly Scholarship and almost $50,000 in scholarships from George Washington University where she will be studying Public Health. Bethany graduated in the top 5% from Lowell High School!

Jack Oakes won the Tennis MVP Award at Lowell High School. He will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall to study computer science.

Ben Asselin will be off to Worcester State

University this fall where he will major in Bi-ology in the Commonwealth Honors Pro-

gram. Ben and Courtney Clark were unable

to attend the reunion as both were competing

in the State Championships in baseball and

softball respectively.

Kevin Tran was able to stop by briefly as he had to head to work. In a few weeks he will be heading to Oklahoma for Army basic training.

He excelled in sports in high school taking home the Golf and Tennis MVP awards! Nick will be heading to the the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to study cyber systems/security.

Elizabeth Gacek was named Semi Queen at the Dracut High School semi-formal in her junior year. She was also captain of the Dracut Cross Country team and Student Council President.

Jatin Bussa participated in Track and Field during his time at Lowell Catholic. He also spent many semesters on the honor roll. Back in 2016 as part of the Lowell Catholic Science Club Jatin, Caleb Craig and Alice Zhou developed a hover craft which they tested…and it worked!

SJA alumni, Morgan ’09 and Joseph ’13 Schnackertz and team Pink Flamingos participated in the 20th Annual Lowell General Hospital TeamWalk for CancerCare on May 19th. Along with fellow team members, Susan Millette, Lorraine Corbeil, Brenda Lyons, Ted & Jacqueline Schnackertz, the team raised almost $1,500 to help support cancer patients going through treatment at LGH. Andre Simard ’67 moved to Canada in 1972

and ran a family run grocery with his mother, father and his brothers for 25 years. Subsequently, Andre began a wholesale distribution that specialized in goat milk, yogurt and cheeses with 3 of his brothers. He acted as sales agent for a large manufacturer of cow milk cheeses particularly in brie and cheddar cheese. In his final year at the business sales were up to $1.5 million dollars. After selling that company Andre started working for a manufacturer in the city he lived in. After 25 years the company was sold to Stanley Black and Decker/Dewalt.

Andre and his wife, Manon, have been married for 43 years. They have three children, Phillippe, Caroline and François. Their family has grown to include four grandchildren, two girls who are 3 and 5 and twin boys who are now 11 years old.

Donald Lampron ’66 and his son Derik were named Alumni Walker of the Year by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. About ten years ago when Derik was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Don and Derik established Team Pepere with a group of family and friends to raise money for Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund. They have since been strongly committed to fundraising for Dana-Farber’s research.

BIG CHANGES ARE COMING TO BOX TOPS IN THE SUMMER OF 2019!

Are Box Top clips going away?

Eventually, yes, the physical clips are going away, and the Box Tops program will become digital-only.

Over the summer you’ll see some participating brands begin to change their packaging from a physical Box

Tops clip to the new Box Tops icon you saw on Blueberry Cheerios. With thousands of products and

hundreds of brands, this will take some time, but that will be the eventual direction of the program. We’ll

continue to honor all physical clips until they reach their expiration dates.

How does the new program work?

At its core, the Box Tops for Education program structure and purpose remain the same – to help schools

get what they need. The main difference is how schools will earn – instead of clipping, checking expirations

dates, bundling and submitting, all Box Tops will be earned digitally via receipt scan. You’ll now download

the new and improved, user-friendly Box Tops app, register and select a school, and then scan an eligible

receipt containing Box Tops products. We’ll continue to earn 10 cents for each Box Tops product

purchased plus extra earnings for any Bonus Box Tops opportunities. The app will automatically add Box

Tops to your school’s earnings online, giving users access to see how you are supporting your school in

real-time.
